Imagine a home where the waves and breezes speak of their long journey across the Pacific. Where "Tale Bearing Winds" of old Hawai'i come ashore clean and cool, then wander through this beautifully restored "old style" home. The "Whispering Seas" can be heard inside the house on most days. The verdant tropical plants outside the home create a private and lush haven for you and your guests to enjoy. The home is 1,120 square feet and has the feel of old Hawai'i. Two additional covered "outdoor living" areas of 200 sf and 300 sf plus a perimeter fence create a sense of privacy, while allowing views of verdant tropical plantings. Every attempt ...Read more

Additional Location Information

Kapoho Beach Lots is a community of homes built around one of the few swimming areas in the rugged East Hawai'i coastline. A geologic wonder, this area became a geothermally heated swimming area in 1960, when the Kapoho lava flow turned what was cold spring water into geothermally heated spring water. There is a generous flow of heated (80+ degrees) water out of the shoreline rocks. The fresh water floats upon the denser sea water if the ocean is calm. This wonderful warm layer makes swimming here a joy, especially at low tide, regardless of the season.

The Kapoho ahupua'a (land division) is known in the ancient lore of Hawai'i. There are legendary accounts of the Spaniards coming ashore here long before Captain Cook was even born! Several "wahi pana" or celebrated places here are appropriate to visit. Renters will get a packet of my ideas to help enrich their experience.
The community of Kapoho Beach Lots is a residential gated community, and feels a lot like the Hawai'i I grew up in. The place has a simpler, quieter lifestyle. There are no retail businesses for eight 8 miles. All shopping is done in Pahoa or farther away. Pahoa has grocers (Malama Market, Island Naturals) and a video store (Pahoa Home Video, 965-1199), a museum, and various restaurants. A car is a must in this rural area.
