Description

Wonderful 19th Century Cotswold Manor House, full of character with ample room for the whole family. Formerly a Coaching Inn on the London - Gloucester route.

Extensive lawned gardens with many shrubs, flowers, fruit trees and a barbeque patio make this home ideal for children too.

We have 5 large bedrooms available with 3 bathrooms plus 4 receptions and an eat-in family kitchen with original Aga in use, plus conservatory and utility areas. We have recently renovated the library with many hundreds of books to enjoy. The main drawing room has an open fireplace and we provide logs for your first fire.

Situated on the picturesque Cotswold Way, guests can enjoy beautiful views and walks through the English countryside right on their doorstep. All within 10 minutes of Stroud, Gloucester and Painswick, many nearby villages with restaurants and pubs and 2 minutes from The Edgemoor Inn - a local pub/restaurant. 20 minutes to Cheltenham. Housekeeper on site.

Private entrance road with ample parking for 4 cars. Perfect venue for large family gatherings, reunions, country retreats, weekend getaways, and events.

Getting around

You really need a car to get around the area - unless you are coming for a complete retreat when you can get taxis from Gloucester or Stroud Station easily and the local supermarkets all deliver. There is so much available within 20 mins drive - Gloucester with its Cathedral, the docks, and plenty of shopping, Stroud with its Saturday market noted as one of the best in the UK by the Telegraph (6th May 2017), numerous smaller attractive villages, Slimbridge wetlands wildlife trust, and plenty more.

Interaction with guest

The owners live mainly overseas but deal directly with bookings by email and telephone if necessary. A housekeeper lives in an annex to the main house and will be available to meet you on arrival and to deal with any questions but otherwise the house is yours during the booking period.
