Top Totally Doable Must-Do Thing In This Lifetime:
(It'll Even Give You a Glimpse of the Next…)
This one is squarely in the realm of the possible. No membership required. Don't need F16 piloting or Formula 1 driving skills. Don't need to win a majority vote. Or be a player in a major league. So don't let this pass you by. Here's the drill:
1. Dinner in Le Jules Verne, the Alain Ducasse restaurant on the second level of the Eiffel Tower, with the person who makes your heart skip a beat or two every time you think of her. (The fare is reputed to be almost as exciting.) And the views, to die for. But don't go anywhere yet. There's more…
2. Allow heart to melt while you're there (consult your physician first).
3. Romantic walk back to your elegant Paris digs (more about this later), a few steps away from the Tower.
This should give you something to remember forever.
And happily, during your stay here, there's a multitude of other, unimaginably wonderful and chic things to do and see in this part of Paris. But every day, the nearly 1,000-foot flight of wrought iron fancy will be steps away, beckoning. And every night at sunset the magic happens as the tower is lit up and beams its Parisian message over the river Seine and beyond, to all Paris, and to the world outside the City of Light.
Staying in this lush and quiet apartment just steps away from the Champs de Mars and the Eiffel Tower, you can also encounter some of the most famous attractions of Paris bathed in comfort and luxury. The 7th arrondissment, or district, is a prestigious quarter of Paris, loaded with jaw-dropping sights and experiences. You can mingle with the real Parisians on rue Cler, the pedestrian shopping street where tout le monde comes to find the freshest fruits, vegetables and charcuterie (meats) available. There are gloriously scented boulangeries and patisseries (bread and pastry shops) too, of course.
And slightly less on the beaten track, the Musée du quai Branly, affectionately known by the French as MQB, is right nearby, right on the river, brand spanking new (just opened in 2006) and houses a stupendous collection of primitive art, of which the French are very fond (think of Gauguin and his primitive-inspired island scenes). Also Museum Quai Branly offers a gorgeous greenery wall, which is not to be missed.
