It is hard to know how best to refer to this wonderful 26 m2 (about 278 ft2) "little house". Called by one person an enchanted cottage, one thing for sure is that there is nothing else like it in Paris! Nestled within the courtyard of this 18th century Louis XVI building, this little cottage is in fact a separate structure, and is "classifié", meaning that it is protected as a historical monument. Once an atelier, or workshop, it has kept its original centuries old structure of wooden beams and stones, but has been totally remodeled and is quite beautiful. This wonderfully festive neighborhood does tend to have an active nightlife on the weekends, so may not be the right choice if you are looking for tranquility.
Near Place Saint Michel, one of the most popular neighborhoods in Paris, the cottage is situated on the animated rue Saint Severin, part of a delightful cluster of rambling old streets lined with restaurants, shops and clubs. There are often outdoor performers in this quarter which make it especially fun on a warm summer evening.
Take a walk nearby and you’ll see one of the narrowest streets in Paris, "la rue du chat qui pęche", and the beautiful Saint Severin Church. And just beyond, the famed Shakespeare and Company bookstore. Only a block away from the Seine, and Saint Germain, you’re also just a short walk away from many of the great sites including Notre Dame, the Cluny Museum and the Jardin du Luxembourg.
As you walk into the courtyard to your cottage, you enter this loft-like space, separated from the rest of the building, like a wonderful protected cave.
The cottage, with stone walls freshly painted all in white, has kept its original dark wooden ceiling beams, and has brand new grey slate floors. It is all harmoniously decorated with contemporary elegance. With all of the windows open, the space is bright and airy. An additional remote controlled skylight in the living room allows you to look up at the sky day or night – or can be closed for a dark sleep. How magical to watch the stars in the night from the sofa bed, or the blue grey sky when you wake up.
The bedroom, set back from the main room, and separated by both a door and window with shade for extra privacy, has a comfortable queen size bed, and connecting bathroom with WC and shower made in the same grey slate as the floors. The bathroom, though small, is modern and equipped with ventilator and heated towel rack. The sink, in the bedroom, is an art piece, made of natural and polished rock. When the lights are on in the bedroom there is a pretty play of reflection and shadow, making for a romantic setting throughout the space. How perfect to be able to enjoy both a pleasant luminous setting by day and a romantic evening atmosphere by night - the best of two worlds.
The living room has a queen size sofa bed, a TV mounted on wall and, on one side, an open kitchen area, separated from the living area by a counter with 2 stools. You’ll find everything you need here including a stove top, refrigerator with small freezer, dishwasher, and microwave.
This cottage provides comfort and is a refuge from the busy Parisian street life outside. You will be delighted with the perfect setting both inside and outside.....it's really the best of two worlds!

My husband and I stayed at Cozy Cottage for 6 nights and enjoyed everything about it - the location was wonderful. There was food, sites, peace, and the welcome bottle of wine was delicious!
We had trouble with the internet for one day, but it was working within 24 hours. I called the manager and she was very professional and efficient. (It happened her internet was down, as well). Also, the locks are a little confusing, but we found it to be part of the charm.
We could not have asked for a better location - one/two blocks from the Seine. There are so many food places - and all of them that we ate at were very good. Customer service was top notch. We felt very safe and welcomed in the neighborhood. We walked everyone, however there is local transportation right up the street. The safe in the closet was a little awkward - wondered where the 2nd key was - but really didn't feel like we needed the safe in the area, anyway. Oh! A light outside the door would have been perfect - we just happened to carry a small flashlight with us! We would not recommend this for people with mobility issues or older. Easy to recommend and would love to return! Thanks VIP for taking care of us - from beginning to end - very nice choice! Loved having the keys sent to us ahead of time. Thanks!
