Built in Groningen, Netherlands in 1897, the sailing barge carried cargoes.
The apartment shows the aft cabin where the bedroom is located and the spacious forward salon, bathroom, and kitchen totaling about 646 sq.ft. Television, and DVD player, washing machine, disher, linen, tableware and other appliance such as steam cooker, hair dryer, iron are provided. Water and electricity comes from the mains.
The Salon: The large living room is comfortably furnished. In the salon, two indonesian armchairs give comfortable seating for a coffee around the coffee table and a sofa for watching the television or listening to the music. The dining area includes a wooden table with six seats. Harmony of wood and brass create a confortable boat atmosphere.
The Sleeping accomodations (sleep 6 to 7)
There are three possibilities offered (according to the number of guests) :
- A Bedroom in the aft with a double bed, wardrobe and a little futton.
- A boat-style closed cabin with a double bed and a wardrobe in an recess in the Salon.
- Located in the living area is a bed-settee which converts to a comfortable double bed.
Bed linen are provided.
The Bathroom: The separate bathroom has a shower with unlimited hot water, washbassin and WC . Sufficient linen and towels are provided.
The Kitchen is equipped with a bar and modern facilities (the owner is passionately fond of cooking). Our galley is modern and equipped with an oven, cooker, microwave, multi-purpose kitchen aids and other appliance. The refrigerator has a good freezing compartment. There is also a coffee maker.
The plus: At your disposal : oil, vinegar, soja sauce, salt, peper and spices.
The Terrace: The sheltered terrace on the deck is one of the most acclaimed features for intimate dinners on the river, particularly in summer. Two teak armchairs surrounding the wooden table give a confortable seating for a beautiful view of the Seine river and the restaurants boat parade at night. You will find Le Chalik des Flandres to be extremely comfortable, and will have a gorgeous time on board.

The Chalik des Flandres is located on the left bank of the river La Seine in front of Place Valhubert (5th district). Just downriver is the Austerlitz Bridge where the "garden of sculptures" begins (modern sculptures in a promenade along the river) leading to the historical heart of Paris, the charming islands Ile Saint-Louis and Ile de la Cité and Notre Dame cathedral.
Main monuments few minutes walk from :
5mn walk : Jardin des Plantes (botanic garden and zoo), Museum of Natural History. In summer on week-end at night, you might be surprised and delighted with tango dancers on the bank.
15 mn walk Ile de la Cité: Notre-Dame Cathedral, Pont neuf, Ile Saint-Louis: charm and romance... Le Marais area: fashionable cafés and historical monuments... Bastille area: The Opera de Paris, bars, restaurants, cinemas... Mouffetard street: cheap restaurants, French, Greek and Italian food... Bars and restaurants and on boats along the river: Techno music, jazz...
Direct by metro or bus: From Austerlitz or Gare de Lyon station : The Eiffel tower Saint-Germain des près, Le quartier Latin ,Les Halles, Les Tuileries, Louvre Museum, Georges Pompidou Museum Orsay Museum Opéra Garnier Grands Boulevards quarter: cafès, boutiques, typical Parisian atmosphere. Main department stores: Printemps, Galeries Laffayette, Bon March... Champs Elysées and many other places...
Just steps away are RER, Lines A (going to Disneyland Paris) and C (going to Versailles and Fontainebleau) , TGV Railways, Mètro and bus stations (Austerlitz and Gare de Lyon) .
A bit further along on the Boulevard de l'Hopital you can find several restaurants, French, provincial, Chineese, Japanese, Italian and a good baker's and confectioner's where you will buy the croissants for the breakfast.
The Monoprix (Supermarket open until 8 PM) and the MONOP (open untill midnignt) nearby the corner of Boulevard de l'Hopital and Boulevard Saint-Marcel is close enough to walk to or you can take the Metro or bus to the door.
On Thursday and Sunday mornings the boulevard Richard Lenoir next to Bastille square, turns into one of the biggest traditional open-air markets of Paris.
