Family Friendly Condo - Park City (sleeps 8+) Park City, Utah
Additional Location Information
This well-kept vacation rental is conveniently located beside the golf course (groomed cross country ski course in winter), walking distance to Park City Mountain Resort and on the free Park City bus system. We are 800 yards from the "first ride" lift at Park City Ski Resort. There is a ticket window there or you can ride the tram for free and ski down to the main ticket office.
Ride the Trolley Bus
The trolley bus and all the city buses are FREE, so park your car and save gas money for another trip to Park City. There is a bus stop at the entrance to the Park Avenue condos. Consider riding the trolley just for the fun of riding a bus that looks like a trolley. Our kids love riding the bus up and down main street. You might want to ride the bus to Historic Main Street for a delicious caramel apple at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory- our favorite the “Apple Pie” apple.
You can't beat the fact that you can walk across the street to Fresh Market and pick-up your groceries. It's easy and close. Just be sure to be safe and cross the street at one of the two lights.
There are several bike trails throughout the area. We are not biking fanatics, but we love the casual family bike ride. In fact, our children's favorite ride is North from the condo down toward the old white barn on the way to Kimball Junction. I think they like this ride because it's downhill most of the way, and because they then call us to come pick them up. We like it because the trail keeps them away from the busy road. You can bring your own bikes or rent bikes from the two bike shops that are 1 block from the condo South towards Main Street.
Utah Olympic Park
Visit the Utah Olympic Park, yes, the one where some of the 2002 Winter Games were held. During the summer, ski jumpers work on technique by landing on plastic runways in landing zones. Freestyle aerialists practice their twists and jumps and land in the park's 750,000-gallon training pool. The Olympic Park is home to the steepest zipline in the world, the Extreme Zipline, as well as the Freestyle Zipline, Alpine Slide, and Summer Comet Bobsled ride. If you visit the venue on a Saturday you can catch the high-flying action of the Flying Ace All Stars Saturday Freestyle Show presented by Montage Deer Valley. The show is a 30 minute exhibition of athletes soaring up to 60 feet in the air on skis and flipping and twisting, then landing in our 750,000 gallon splash pool! The show takes place every Saturday at 5 p.m. and costs $10 for Adults and $7 for youth and seniors.
Located on the footpath behind the Marriott Hotel at the bottom of Old Main.
The legend is............ during the early mining day miners worked all week in the mines and drank all weekend. One night at a drinking party around the campfire one of the miners took off his shoe and threw it in the air. Said shoe landed in a tree close by. Other miners did the same and walla The Shoe Tree. Through the years others have added their shoes until last count there was two shoe trees.
The original 'Old Jail' is also on Old Main and has tours for visitors.
Drive to Stein Erickson Lodge
The drive to Stein Erickson Lodge is one of the most beautiful. The Lodge itself is unique with the usual shops and food. A bit pricey in the evenings but lunch is worth the drive.
The city park is located about 1 block east and 1 block north of the condo. It is a great place to spend an afternoon. There are tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, lots of grass, and a fun playground. There are also usually some pretty interesting people in the park, so laying on a blanket, napping and people watching is also entertaining.
There are many walking trails around Park City. The two best are: one that runs past the city park to the top of Main Street (this is the one that goes past the shoe tree). And another that goes east towards Kamas and the highway. The best place to get on these trails is by the City Park. We like to take our kids and their skateboards and scooters to the top of the trail by Main Street and let them scooter downhill to the condo. You can walk out the front door and find enjoyable hikes close by. Another favorite is walking South and West around the golf course and back. You will go by an old cemetery and a number of interesting homes.
Depending on ages of your family you will find the Climbing Trees a favorite. The Climbing Trees are located in a small park by the swimming pool. In addition to lots of trees, there is plenty of space to picnic, play croquet, and such. Don't forget to leave the park as you find it.
