Pawleys Island is a small Atlantic coast barrier island with only a few hundred full time residents. The island and the surrounding area, including Litchfield Beach, Murrells Inlet, and Georgetown, collectively make a up a quaint and secluded vacation destination easily within reach of the colorful, noisy bustle of Myrtle Beach. Escape to Pawleys Island for a relaxing and beautiful getaway. Come here between May and October for the best shrimping, crabbing, and bird watching you'll find anywhere in South Carolina. The beaches are classic barrier island stretches of soft clean sand and gentle waves. Build sandcastles, go fishing, explore the salt march ecosystem from a canoe or kayak, or just relax and enjoy the sun. Once the sun starts to set, wander the quaint shopping districts of Litchfield or dine in one of the many great restaurants here.
Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do:
-Play a round of golf: South Carolina is home to some of the most well-manicured and ingeniously designed golf courses in the country. Pawleys Island offers well known courses like Pawleys Plantation and the Litchfield Country Club.
-Relax in the spa: Spend the afternoon in a state of luxury and serenity, indulging in some head-to-toe pampering.
-Play on the beach: The best beach in the area is Litchfield Beach. Swim, sunbathe, surf, or take a parasailing adventure and see what this pristine stretch of white sand and blue water looks like from the sky.
-Go boating: Take a charter boat out in the morning for a deep sea fishing adventure, or rent a sailboat and explore the coast on your own.
-Visit Gallery 57: Stroll through this beautiful art gallery and have a look at exquisite examples of blown glass, acrylic paintings, and handmade furniture.
-Go shopping: Visitors travel for hundreds of miles to hunt for bargains in the outlets of Myrtle Beach. Don't leave empty handed.
Though Pawley's Island is small, you won't have any trouble finding a beautiful secluded vacation rental here, even during the height of the summer. Many visitors decide to reserve an elegant condo on or near the emerald golf courses of Litchfield. If you prefer the ocean to the golf course, find a cottage or beach house with beautiful views of the Atlantic coast. Many are available within a few steps of the shore.
