Paynes Bay, Saint James, Barbados
Additional Location Information
Adawna is set in a quiet rural area, just one mile from Paynes Bay and the west coast road. The Sandy Lane golf course is a 10 minute walk away and excellent for early morning walks. If you want to get away from the main tourist areas and feel you have stayed in the "real" Barbados - look no further. There is a farmer's market on a Sunday morning at the Polo field (10 mins walk). We are located behind St John the Baptist church and buses run into Bridgetown every 10 mins or so, along the road by the church - just a couple of minutes walk. A 5 minute walk will get you to Marshalls, a café where you can enjoy some Bajan grub and a drink with the locals. Holetown, with all its shops, banks, restaurants, cinemas and beaches and famous Lime Grove is 3 miles away.
Holders Terrace is a no-through road and there is plenty of parking outside the property. The main ABC highway is a mile away so we are ideally located for access to all parts of the island.
If you feel energetic, join Chris for weekly aqua zumba classes. There is so much to do in Barbados we couldn't begin to list them here. No matter what you like to do, we are on hand to give advice when needed. For example, try a sunset cruise on Cool Runnings and swim with the turtles, or party and see the show at Harbour Lights. Maybe you like jazz. Sit by the yachts at the careenage in Bridgetown's Waterfront café on a Thursday night for great food, friendly service and listen to the jazz band. Try the Arlington museum in Speightstown, or the Sunbury plantation to discover the history of Barbados. There is so much more, plus the annual events such as the Holders Hill festival in February and March or the carnival in August, Gold Cup racing in March, international cricket, and Top Gear will be filming here again in May.
We hope to see you in Barbados soon. We would love to share this beautiful island with you.
