Additional Location Information

Peisey-Vallandry is made up of 5 mountain villages: Landry, Peisey, Nancroix, Vallandry and Plan-Peisey, set at 1250 to 1600m altitude. On the south western slopes of the Arcs mountain range, and skirting the edge of the forest, it enjoys an excellent sunshine record. Pessay is at the entrance to the Vanoise National Park, and has beautiful views over the Beaufortain and the Tarentaise valleys.
Recent building work has been sensitive to the environment and blends well with the traditional chalets, some of which are over 250 years old. Everything has been done to create easy access to the skiing areas whilst retaining a peaceful village atmosphere.

Local Activities
Covers 200kms of pistes, 106 in total (1 green, 54 blue, 32 red, 19 black) between altitudes of 1600m to 3226m. Snow conditions are supported by an impressive network of snow-cannons covering an area of 91 hectares! For children there are 17 rope drags, 5 moving carpets, 7 children's snow gardens (kindergartens) and 3 play areas.

Please note, the following details are given for information only and should not be taken as recommendations. If you wish to participate in these activities, it is most important that you check your insurance policy to ensure that you are fully covered.
Snowboard lessons: We recommend that you reserve ski lessons and childcare in advance, especially during school holiday periods.
Tobogganing for children: Vallandry has a specially fenced-off area where children under 6 can sledge free of charge.
Walking There is a selection of 10 well marked trails linking the villages. Wonderful for nature lovers, the trails are on the edge of the Vanoise National Park, walking in a peaceful site where you are more likely to be disturbed by the sighting of an eagle or a native ibex than by your fellow human beings.
Snow shoeing At Peisey-Vallandry, these snow-shoe walks are free of charge and a badge is not required. The main walks are pisted or for the more adventurous, there are local providers who offer guided Snow shoe walks going off-piste. The timetables are available from the local tourist office.
Farm visits
PEISEY VALLANDRY is one of the few resorts who offer this possibility. In summer, farming is an important activity and in the winter the animals are inside many also are giving birth at this time. The goat sheds and stables can be visited usually ending with a cheese tasting! Days and times of visits are available from the local tourist office.
Dog sleighs
A local provider offers various ways to try this activity. There is a starter session where the sleigh is pulled by 10 dogs, this is for 2 adults and a child and for approx 45 minutes
Horse-drawn sleighs - what a wonderful way to discover the local region with your family.
You can have a starter duo-session with a local guide. The start is normally at the top of the runs and finishes at the resort level.
An exciting cocktail which combines skiing or snow-boarding with airborne sports by pulling you along the surface of the snow attached to a small sail. Great sensations and speed. Contact tel: 04 79 06 09 71.
Ice Falls
The natural Nordic site of Peisey-Vallandry is well known for its Ice climbing.
Cross-country skiing routes: The Nordic skiing domaine of Pont Baudin at Peisey-Vallandry: 44 km of cross-country pistes at the gateway to the Vanoise National Parc, biathlon possible. At Les Arcs, 5km circuits, free of charge and accessible from each resort.
Don't forget that going out in the mountains requires good local knowledge so don't forget to consult the High Mountain Information office or to call upon the services of a professional, be that a guide or an instructor.
