The quiet country lanes are ideal for those who enjoy walking and cycling. The market towns of Penrith, Appleby and Kendal (21 miles) offer an abundance of shops, pubs and restaurants. A 15 minute drive will bring you to the Lake District, Haweswater and Ullswater. Hadrian’s Wall, Scottish Borders and the Dales National Park are all easily accessible making this an ideal base from which to explore this area.

Ive been here before for loads of reason the owner is so frendly , so close to all of walks i do also so quite and relaxing cottage also the cottage next door ive stay in same owner i took my mam and dad age 80 yrs and their were over the moon at how lovely warm cosy and clean their loved their stay and will be back this year as it their diamond anniversary in september and would have loved to spend it in the cottage but it booked up ..
The owner spoken to our dad who loved her garden , and commented on a plant she came back next day and left a cutting dad was over the moon
i will never go too another cottage other than mid town or dairy cotage it so peaceful relaxing clean and all you need in fact it home from home and the welcome pack is just unbeliveable home made cake wine well done to you ... love to live there all year long ...

A warm welcome to the cottage with a home made cake, biscuits and milk in the fridge. Set in a lovely small village within walking distance
to another village with a pub and lovely cafe. You need to have provisions with you as the nearest small grocery store is in Shap which
is about a 6 mile car run away. Even though it was a busy bank holiday weekend in the Lakes the village was peaceful, quiet and nice for going on walks.

We arrived with our Dog on the Thursday and were then joined by our two Daughters and their Husbands (and two more dogs!) for the weekend. This cottage is just excellent. It has got everything that we could possibly want (with the exception of broadband - which I suspect is a location issue) The furnishings and decoration is so good you could actually move in and live there. The added touches, such as the wealth of local tourism leaflets, maps, full set of Wainwrights, games just made all the difference. In addition the welcome pack including a beautiful Chocolate cake was amazing. I cannot reccommend the cottage highly enough I we hope to repeat the break next year. Thank you.

Cottage was equipped with everything including dog bowls and poo bags! Fantastic kitchen and homely lounge. Village very quiet, nice mile walk to pub in next village. Photo undersells the property - lot nicer in reality. Having two toilets and showers were very useful,also the twin bedded rooms, so many cater for couples and not just friends, can always push beds together but not split a double!

We stayed here for 4 nights and loved every minute of it. From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. There was personal a hand written welcome note, a box of chocolates, a cake, packet of biscuits and even some milk in the fridge. It was set in an perfect location and within walking distance a welcoming pub, "the crown inn". Will definitely stay here again.
All prices include all taxes, gas, electric and bed linen. Please check property description to see if towels, logs, coal and cots are included free of charge or at a supplement.
