I have stayed with Chrissie and David on two previous occasions, and was looking forward to spending a couple of days with them this year. I travel to Italy to shear alpacas, including the ones at CSG, and visit 10 farms in 8 days, travelling in excess of 2000kms. This year with a new shearing colleague, I told him to expect fantastic hospitality and spectacular scenery and we were not disappointed. We arrived from Montegiorgio late afternoon and were soon at work shearing the alpacas, ably assisted by Eli and Lucia, David and Chrissie also took part, but in more of a management role, I felt! A quick swim, followed by a fantastic supper with plenty of catching up and a welcome nights sleep.
The following day was shearing in Arezzo and Montone, and back to Casa San Gabriel for another swim and a barbecue. This gave us the most difficult decision of the stay, who made the best dessert, Eli or Lucia? The second hardest decision was how much of David's wine we could get in the suitcase, well worth a try. I will let you make your own mind up, if you get to sample the delights of the two young chefs at this establishment or the wine. Thoroughly recommend a stay at Casa San Gabriel, nothing is too much trouble for the hosts and all the facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
Can't wait until next year, in fact I don't think I will wait until next year, I'll might get there again this year !
