“Most enjoyable tropical get away” We stayed in the Cranford's Toucan Suite. Our friends stayed in the upper level suite. The house sits on pristine jungle - the sound and sight of rare birds is a daily occurrence. We could easily walk to the river, explore the grounds which abound with exotic plants.Toucan Suite is the larger of the two units and is fully equipped with linens, kitchen utensils. We were able to borrow and exchange with our upstairs companions for the items that we needed (juicer, coffee grinder, garlic press) but it would be nice to have both kitchens equally stocked. The stove and refrigerator worked well. The issues that we had with staying at the Toucan Suite would be that the fans need to be upgraded. There are two ceiling fans that function well, although the "blue bedroom" fan makes too much noise to sleep through. There were two portable fans; one of them was okay but the other one barely moved the blades and eventually went comatose. Fortunately our friends in the upper unit had powerful ceiling fans and two super powerful portable fans and they lent us one which saved us! I strongly suggest the Cranfords upgrade the fans in the Toucan Suite. The lovely wooden doors that lead from the main floor to the porch area need to be fixed. They are off their track so we were unable to close them when the hot eastern sun shone through. The house would be much cooler if these functioned well. Blondie and Michael have a sign asking that we remove our shoes before entering and I complied with this request the first night. I found the floor really dirty and in the evening the ants, frogs and other insects would come in so we kept our shoes on. The house could use a good cleaning and some general upkeep. The upstairs suite seemed cleaner and because of the fans, cooler. The views from the upstairs suite are to die for. As the Cranfords note, the Internet seldom works consistently. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend the Toucan Suite.

“Perfect Getaway” What an amazing stay we had at Casa Bella. Arriving to the house we were greeted with warm friendly smiles from owners Meghan and her husband Josue. They made us feel so welcome and relaxed immediately. The landscape around the house was beautiful and everything seemed to fit right where it was supposed to. As we walked in the house I noticed immediately how fresh and clean it felt. The room was very comfortable, fresh, and cozy. Exactly what we were looking for. My favorite part of the house was the deck that overlooked beautiful trees. The nature watching is impeccable. I would've of sat on the deck all day everyday if my boyfriend let me. I had a fresh cocktail in my hand constantly and we saw all types of monkeys swing by: Howlers, Capuchin (my favorite) and even squirrel monkeys! Lots of colorful, stunning birds too. The walk to the beach was easy and worth it. Thank God we got the surf lessons for my boyfriend...he really needed it. The staff was so friendly and patient with him. We also did the package where Josue cooked for us. The food had a great presentation and was so flavorful. This experience in the OSa and at Casa Bella was priceless. We were so comfortable, every need taken care of with a smile, and beautiful scenery to top it off. We couldn't have been happier with Casa Bella; great price, amazing service and absolutely stunning. We look forward to our next visit at Casa Bella. Pura Vida

“Great house; great hosts” We spent 4 full days at the Mango Street Casita, had a wonderful experience, and could easily have stayed 4 more days. The house was clean, comfortable, spacious, and felt very safe and secluded even though it is right in the middle of Drake Bay and activities/stores/restaurants are within easy walking distance. Mario and Nichole are dedicated to all aspects of the Drake Bay community, and were very helpful in arranging tours and suggesting other activities such as beaches to visit or walks/hikes to take. They live next door to the casita, but still gave us the privacy we wanted while at the same time being very available to assist us. They even did some grocery shopping on our behalf before we arrived!

Amazing Rainforest Getaway

We were looking for an adventurous but luxurious rainforest getaway; we got that and more. From the moment we started down the river with Ruben at helm to the moment we disembarked back in Sierpe 5 days later we were enchanted by our experience at Casa Rio Sierpe and very sorry to leave. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and we decided to dive right in by getting as far into the forest on the Osa Peninsula as possible. We chose CRS principally due to the deep down-the-river location and the dedicated guide and boat provided by the property. Mark provided a ton of pre-travel information and was always there with an almost immediate response to our queries as we completed our planning. Even so we looked at each other a few times before the trip with that ‘What are we thinking’ look of trepidation. We need not have been concerned. Getting to Sierpe from San Jose is easy if you decide to drive yourself. It takes two half-days to get there if you at arrive in San Jose at midday. The house itself is perfect for its location. You feel complete privacy. The interior is as advertised. Great kitchen with all you could need. No issues with electricity or water supply. Filtered water! The walk up the hill can seem daunting, especially after a long day, but once at the house and on the deck you will realize the benefit. We spent every morning/evening sitting rapt watching and listening to the rainforest transition from night to day and then back. We were blown away by the sounds, especially during the time from 4am to 7am; I only have room to say ‘ pre-dawn roar of Howler Monkeys .’ Wildlife. When you go that far to observe as much as possible, you might stand on the deck when you first arrive and think; what if we don’t see anything? Don’t worry. The first day we saw a pair of Toucans, a pair of white-necked puffbirds, and many hummingbirds. The next day on the hike to the cascada we looked to our left and were staring at a river otter 5 meters away; no lie. Monkeys, Koatimundi, macaws, various parrot and parakeet flocks, and many, many more. But the most amazing part of the experience was interacting with Ruben, Adriana, and Juliana. We were a little nervous about not being competent in Spanish but we had no problem communicating. We learned a lot and had great fun with Ruben as a guide. He is a very genuine person and clearly loves the forest. In that short time we came to think of them as friends, amigos. It's very special; go!see more

This was our 4th trip to the Drake Bay area and second visit to the amaya Family properties and our first time at Sonya's house. It is an absolute treasure. Beautiful romantic home with porch facing the rain forest perfect for watching monkeys and blue morph butterflies. Home exceeded expectations and was the perfect ending to our trip. Great Time In Golfito

Group of 6 people had a wonderful time in Golfito. More than enough room at the house. The food cooked by Johnathan was fresh, authentuc and wonderful. The house, property and amenities were perfect for a group looking to sit, relax and enjoy the views. Would be perfect for a small family reunion, or a couple looking to completely get away. Owner Adam was very knowledgeable on the area and was a great host.see more

Wonderful House and Hosts!

The Casita is a very spacious small house on the gated property of the hosts, Nichole and Mario. The home had many small extras that were very useful and came in handy for our family (fresh coffee, basic cooking spices, flashlight, umbrellas, beach "towels", room safe, etc.). The location was great for short walks to reach the beach, restaurants, grocery stores and tour operators. My favorite parts of the house were the bathroom which is open aired looking over the jungle in the backyard, and the front patio/yard area. The bathroom walls reach about 4 1/2 feet with the top portion open to the air for fresh air and the view. No better way to take a shower than looking out at the beautiful surroundings. The yard is completely walled and gated which made it easy for our daughter to play outside with the "free dog", Dolly. That was her term for any dogs that resided with hosts during our travels in CR. Prior to our trip, Nicole offered to book tours, arrange transportation, and answer any questions we had. We were very happy with the tours she booked for us to Cano Island and Corcovado Nature Preserve. This was very helpful and we really appreciated the knowledge she had on which tour operators were the best. Nichole was away during our stay, but her support prior to our arrival helped ease my mind. During our time in Drake Bay, Mario was very kind and supportive throughout our sta. He met us at the beach, carried luggage both to and from the beach, provided advice on where to eat, what to take on our day tours, and acted as a personal tour guide on a walk through the jungle to a river. He even lent our daughter children's DVDs from his daughter's collection. As happens to many travelers during extended trips, I fell ill shortly before our departure date from the Casita. Mario showed real concern, and even more importantly he provided aid in the form of fresh coconut water. Apparently, coconut water has electrolytes which I desperately needed as I wasn't able to keep anything down at the time. If I am ever lucky enough to return to beautiful Drake Bay, Nicole and Mario will be the first people I contact to book their Casita again.see more

Relaxing Getaway in Costa Rica

Wow - what an amazing place! The house was located within a five minute walk of town and the beach and a short walk to trails leading you into the rain forest. We felt comfortable and safe during our entire stay. The hosts, Mario and Nichole, were kind, honest, and extremely helpfully with all our travel arrangements - taxis, tours, and general questions. We appreciated that Nichole shared detailed information about their property (from garbage info to "what to do") and we knew exactly what to expect! We loved the hammock, open air bathroom, balconies that faced the rain forest (saw sloths, toucans, iguanas, and monkeys back there!), and the privacy. Don't miss out - reserve your stay now!see more
