Private Hill Country House w/ Screen Porch & Views
Bella Green is a beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bath eco-sensitive hilltop B&B;/Spa that sits on nearly ten acres and caters to couples looking for a quiet getaway, friends wanting to reconnect, adventurers who want to explore the hill country, and solo journeyers craving downtime or creative inspiration! We also offer a delicious ARTISAN breakfast each morning (served between 8am-10am) and one can often expect some sort of snack in the evening as well. Special diets (gluten free, vegan, allergies) are not a problem with advance notice.
Built in 2011, this beautiful private hill country Guest House is 1900 feet up on the side of a hill with outstanding views (as seen in Houzz magazine 2/14) and breathtaking sunsets. The guest bedrooms are moderate in size (we call them European-style) but because of the long views, one feels nicely tucked in, but not tight. Both rooms have lovely amenities including Comphey (TM) sheets, organic bamboo mattress pads on queen-sized beds, on-demand (unlimited) hot water heaters, armoires and robes, bamboo flooring, and our favorite, a large screen porch area off the bedrooms that allow the fresh breeze and views in. Each room has a ceiling fan, individualized Mitsubishi split AC/heat with personal thermostat, and a private bath (The Pacifico room has a 1932 claw foot tub; the Fleure room has a walk-in shower - please specify your preference when you book). Both rooms are identical in size, and we designed the bedrooms at opposite sides of the guest house with bathrooms in the middle, to maximize privacy. Bella Green is a stand alone guest house, attached to the main house only by a 12 foot wood deck. The screened-in common area has a mini-fridge and Keurig coffee bar area, ample writing/table area with free wifi hookup, a love seat at one end, and a comfortable bench and leather chair at the other, so two couples can be comfortable here. Please let us know in advance if you are interested in using the outdoor grill (remember to bring charcoal) and/or the hot tub, as we only give access to one couple per stay.
In addition to the guest house, guests have access to the raised deck that overlooks the hilltop view and it is where you will normally eat breakfast al fresco, the outside fire pit area (with plenty of cut firewood) that looks out to the hills and has two sets of comfortable chairs, our Bella Green wellness area with "shake" vibrational exercise machine, infrared sauna (extra fees apply) and wellness library. When it is too cold or too rainy to enjoy the outdoors &/or the screened porch area, guests may have have access to our Art Studio which has two comfortable club chairs and plenty of art tables to "play."
FEES: A one night's stay is $135+tax for rental of a single bedroom/bathroom (1-2 persons) or $270+tax for access to the whole house (2 bedrooms/2 baths). We have guests that do not need two bedrooms but who want full privacy (no sharing of common area) and we are happy to not book the 2nd room for an extra $75 if the 2nd bedroom has not yet been reserved.
SPA/WELLNESS OPTIONS: Your host Karen is a licensed massage therapist/Certified Wellness Practitioner and as time allows, guests may opt to schedule an integrative on-site massage ($70), life coaching session ($70 for 90 minutes) or utilize the infrared sauna (fits 1-2) with an self-applied aromatherapy scrub to help soften skin and detox the body ($35 for 1/$45 for 2). The hot tub under the stars is also available (for an extra $50. It is commercial chemically-free, cleaned, scrubbed and refilled between guests) and we only give access to one couple or individual per day, so if you want this option, please reserve it up front..
Bella Green is a wonderful place to make your home base as you explore some of Hill Country's finest cities and sites because we are only 15-18 minutes away from the popular cities of Boerne, Bandera, and Helotes/Grey Forest (each in a different direction) and 45 minutes or so from San Antonio's airport, the world famous San Antonio Riverwalk, Seaworld, Fiesta Texas, and historic downtown SA.

Mike and Karen were great host. They were there to greet us when we arrived and make sure that we had everything we needed. Karen took the time to show us the property and amenities as we got to watch a great sunset from the porch. I can not brag enough about the gourmet breakfast Mike and Karen prepare! The meat pie Mike makes melts in your mouth, and the way it is presented on the plate makes you think you are sitting in true 5 star restaurant. The views at night from the hot tub are well worth the extra money. You can see the lights of Bandera in the distance and tons of stars in the Texas sky. We will stay here again as Karen and Mike truly made us feel at ease and comfortable.

Biker rally. March 2014. No place was available You or so sweet with your response to my email. The two of you are so warm and friendly when we got there. The water melon and blue cheese was amazing and such a nice thought... The shower was wonderful the bed was extremely comfortable slept like a rock. And the night was spectacular I have not seen the Milky Way since I was a child. The view in the morning was even more breathtaking. I envy you since you get to look at that every morning. Thank you so much for sharing your time and your space with us. Thank you for making it easy. And we will see you again
“Great place for R&R;! So glad we chose to stay here!!”

You never know what you'll get when you choose a B&B.; Bella Green is just a jewel of a spot to "hide" away. Reminiscent of a quaint Italian getaway, its views from the lovely hilltop took my breath away - especially sunset! They had super comphey beds, an awesome screen porch with wifi, 5-star breakfasts, unexpected tapas or sweets at night, and we were indeed, Wow'd. Karen and Mike were wonderful hosts, giving us our space, while still making us feel welcomed. We appreciated its postion as a "home-base" too, as one day we explored Boerne/Sisterdale (did a cave exploration and vineyard tour), the next day, we drove scenic Hwy 16 into Medina, and then enjoyed live country music and "Cowboys" in Bandera. Day three, was saved for the beautiful Riverwalk! It was a perfect trip, with perfect accomodations -- and we only wish we had more time to do the on-site massages and nearby horseback riding in the hills. Next time... : )

My girlfriend and I recently stayed a couple of nights at Bella Green and it couldn't have been a nicer experience. This is a small, private, and exceptional place to stay if you need to get away - from stress, kids, work, family, whatever, and it has sort of a Texas Tuscan feel. The breakfasts are signature and superb (and big!) and the views are absolutely amazing. I've never seen so many starts at night and experiencing the Milky Way after the fabulous sunset was just about as good as it gets. We'll definitely be back. Thanks Karen and Mike. See you soon!
