About Atlantic Beach

Atlantic Beach, NC

The motto for the town of Atlantic Beach, NC, is “North Carolina’s crystal coast”. With a description like that, why wouldn’t you want to land your very own Atlantic Beach vacation rental?

It’s the quintessential beach getaway. Atlantic Beach is located on the barrier island of Bogue Banks, which means there’s sea on both sides. Despite the name, it’s actually made up of four public beaches: Circle Regional Beach, Tom Doe Memorial Beach, the Les and Sally Moore Public Beach and Fort Macon State Park. That’s right – this beautiful little island has its own state park! When things get crowded, or you fancy a change, just pop on over to your next-favourite beach.

With over 300 Atlantic Beach rentals to choose from on FlipKey, you can plan a budget break or a luxurious getaway with ease. A private pool might be a nice touch if four beaches just isn’t enough. Perhaps a hot tub, for that added splash of luxury? Or maybe you’d like a beachfront house, so close to the surf that it’s practically your front yard. We’ve got it all.

It’s not all about peace and quiet: Atlantic Beach is a watersports hotspot. If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at jetskiing, there are few better places to start. Here’s just one of the reviews from Atlantic Beach:

“My husband and I enjoyed jetskiing over Labor Day weekend and had a blast. We don't ride/drive jet skis often and they did a great job on making sure you knew what to do. Beautiful ride and an extremely fun time!”

For those with grander ambitions, it’s easy to charter a boat anywhere on Atlantic Beach, for sport or pleasure. Make it all the way out to Shackleford Banks and you can chill with a herd of wild horses! Hire a fishing charter, on the other hand, and you could be bringing dinner back with you.

There’s also plenty of reason to visit Fort Macon State Park beyond sunbathing. It’s the site of a flawlessly restored Civil War fort, complete with cannon and musket demonstrations, guided tours and huge exhibits inside and out.

Even if you’re not a history buff, Fort Macon is a great place to spend time. There’s a fully equipped boathouse, opportunities for surf fishing and beachcombing, and miles of unspoiled salt marshes, estuaries and sand dunes to explore. It’s enough to keep kids (and big kids) entertained for days.

Hoop Pole Creek nature trail is a great place to unwind – a beautiful, shaded walk with great views of the water. You’ll see ducks, lizards and herons (which are a big hit with children) and, if you’re so inclined, learn a little about the Civil War on the way. Walking can be thirsty work, so just imagine how good it will feel to come home to an Atlantic Beach condo of your own after a day in the summer sun.
