RESIDENZA SANSONI easy & quite -Navona - Vatican

Rome apartment

  • 1 bedroom
  • 1 bathroom

“Location, location, location” The very best aspect of this apartment was for sure the location - just a few blocks from Piazza Navona and across the bridge from the Vatican. This is a studio apt and three adults were very comfortable. The bed is actually a murphy bed, but adequate for a short stay. Bathroom is renovated and bright. Apartment was also on a quiet street, so no trouble resting after a full day of touring the sights. I have to add, though, that the kitchen is not very well stocked - just the bare minimum utensils/plates, etc. so plan ahead if you plan to cook. We had some trouble finding the place, and after some negotiating at the tourist kiosk, Olivia arranged for someone to come find us and escort us which was very much appreciated. Enjoy beautiful Rome!

“Splendid home in a glorious and unique Village!” The web site proposed a lovely location and property; the reality well met all of those advance expectations. The owners were most helpful for establishing the arrival processes and the local staff prepared the house very well for our arrival. The property was totally unique; medieval is correct; full of charm and character. The house was furnished exceptionally and we could not fault anything that was made available to us. The beds were super comfortable; the living room quiet and relaxing; the bathrooms were great and the kitchen totally well equipped. Outside, the shaded patio area, complete with the hammock, was really nice to use morning, noon and night and the pool area was the icing on the cake with it's splendid views over the Pontine Plains out to the sea. The Internet worked a treat too! Five star and elegant in every aspect! The village was beautiful; characterful and traditional. We were thrilled at the diverse choice of cafes and restaurants, as well as the peace and quiet of largely a carless society with splendid views from every direction. All of these were within a very easy walk from "Domus Doull". We loved returning from Rome's hustle and bustle to the peace and quiet of the village! Highly recommendable to anyone who wants to enjoy a comfortable "away from it all" stay in a truly unique property and location!

“Good location - friendly host.” The apartment was very clean and comfortable and Pino was extremely friendly and helpful with lots of good tips and information. He kept in touch by text throughout our week long visit. The area is local and not touristy, the apartment is set back in a block away from the road. There is a small supermarket across the road, and a market nearby and a good takeaway pizza restaurant. Access to the centre is very easy with a choice of buses and the tram only a few minutes walk away. The garden is a bonus for evening meals outside. When we stayed it was extremely hot, 38 degrees all week, there is a ceiling fan in the main bedroom but the other room where our sons were staying would have benefitted from a couple of portable fans. The mosquitoes were also out in force so I would advise plenty of deet insect repellent and citronella candles in the height of summer, there is fly screen on the main bedroom windows but not on the others. Make sure you pre-book the Vatican museums so you skip the queues which are very long, the bus around the corner takes you almost directly to St Peter's Square. It is also worth pre-booking tickets to the Colosseum. The park over the road is ideal for a leisurely Sunday picnic and makes a change from the hustle and bustle of the city. We would stay again but we would probably choose Spring or Autumn.

The Spanish Steps Apartment on Via della Mercede - Free Airport Pickup!

“We will return to this perfect apartment!” My husband, mother, sister-in-law and I stayed at the Spanish Steps Apartment on Via della Mercede for 5 nights at the end of October. Our stay here was perfect in every way. The owner, David, was incredibly helpful with the booking process, assisting with logistics, and making recommendations. After long flights from the USA, we greatly appreciated David arranging for a complimentary car service from the airport to the apartment. We were met at the apartment by the manager who helped us settle in quickly, left us with groceries, and oriented us to the city and nearby attractions. She also arranged our transportation back to the airport. The apartment is more spacious than it appears in the pictures, exceptionally clean, quiet and comfortable. We had everything we needed including access to a laptop, WIFI, and printer. We had plenty of room and privacy for four guests. The location is perfect for getting to all the major sites either by walking or by the nearby taxi stand (public transportation is also close by, we just didn't happen to use it). The neighborhood is safe and charming. A favorite restaurant recommended by David and within walking distance was Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino. David also recommended a company that offers personalized tours with private guides, called Rome and Tuscany Tours. We booked a scooter tour of the city, a walking tour of ancient Rome, and a day trip to Pompeii and Positano, and all were excellent and unforgettable experiences. We really can't say enough about our wonderful experience with The Spanish Steps Apartment on Via della Mercede and our host, David. We look forward to our next trip to Rome and staying again at this lovely apartment.

“A comfortable stay at a great home in Fiuggi” The house is situated in a very good location where the old town and new town are just a few minutes away. The view from Villa Marta is spectacular and it's especially enjoyable sitting in the garden in the gazebo, just by the house. The house was very clean and the bedrooms were comfortable. The owners of this home were kind and helpful and offered a lot of useful advice on the sort of things that might be interesting to visit locally. I recommend this to anyone staying in in Fiuggi a week or two as there is so much to do!

About Lazio

Lazio is a region of central Italy, most famous as the home of the nation's capital, Rome, but also the site of many lesser-known attractions that are well worth exploring in their own right. With a sprawling coastline, beautiful beaches, a unique seafood-rich cuisine, and historic towns and cities filled with artistry and striking architecture, Lazio makes a memorable vacation.

The top attractions in Rome and Lazio include:

  • The Colosseum: An iconic masterpiece of ancient Roman architecture, the Colosseum is an impressive ancient remnant that is one of Rome's quintessential must-see sights.
  • St. Peter's Basilica: The global center of the Catholic Church, St. Peter's Basilica is home to some of the most impressive artwork and architecture ever created. Climbing to the roof for a view of the city also yields some marvelous photo opportunities.
  • Castelli: The summer respite of wealthy ancient Romans and the site of the papal vacation residence, the central Lazio region of Castelli is well-known for its Frascati wines and makes for an excellent day trip.
  • Tivoli: The city of Tivoli is an easy day trip from Rome, and is the home of two attractions that are well worth the journey: the spectacular Organ Fountain at the Villa D'Este and the ruins of the Roman emperor Hadrian.

If you're visiting during the Christmas season, be sure to head into the Vatican City. Even if you're not religious, a glimpse at the pomp and circumstance of Christianity's biggest festival in the heart of Catholicism is a unique cultural experience that's not to be missed.

Vacation rentals offer the ideal way to relax, unwind and enjoy the sights and sounds of Rome and Lazio. Offering more space and privacy than hotels and all the comforts and indulgences of home, staying in a villa or apartment during your Italian vacation will make your trip that much more enjoyable.

From Rome, you can visit the region of Campania, home of the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It is a three-hour train ride from Rome to Pompeii, and the trip can be done in a single day, or you can opt to spend more time in this historic and beautiful area.

Fantastic Apartment closed to the Vatican

My husband and I stayed a weekend in this apartment. It is a few blocks away from the Vatican with good access to public transportation. Is located next to a movie theater and lots of shopping. It is also close to fantastic shopping in Via Renzo. We were pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was given the fact that is located in a very busy street. We were very comfortable and slept very well. The apartment was recently renovated and is just as in the pictures.
