What to do

On sunny days (Limassol has plenty of them!), a stroll around the Marina and Old Port is a great way to spend an afternoon, before heading for the Old Town and Limassol Castle. This 14th-century castle was once used as a colonial prison by the British. Head for the rooftop terrace to enjoy some of the most spectacular views over the harbor. On your way back through the Old Town, stop off for some shopping at Anexartisias Street.

A little further afield, the Cyprus Wine Museum, just outside the town center, is a great place to find out about the region’s winemaking history.

When the sun goes down, Saripolou Square in the Old Town buzzes with activity. You’ll find plenty of vibrant cafes, bars and restaurants, or check out a buzukia, a traditional tavern playing live music.
