Paseo Del Sol Rooms Playa del Carmen, Yucatan-Mayan Riviera, Mexico
Additional Location Information
Things to do in Mexico: I would suggest before you go down to make a bit of itinerary for yourself. Look on you tube and tripadvisor for Playa Del Carmen, Playa Car and Cancun. Google these areas if you’re not sure what you want to do or where to go. You will most likely want to spend a few days relaxing at the condo and enjoying the pools and ocean. After this you may want to venture out, we will give you our owners cards so you can have discounts on all attractions. Show this card to the front desk of the Reef club across the street and you can use all the facilities for free including the ocean front pools. If you want to eat and drink all inclusive for the day its only 40.00 for Adults and 25.00 for kids with the card. If you go to Xel-Ha and swim with the dolphins its 50% off. Crockacun Zoo 25% off, etc… just show the owner’s card. We always pack light. You might want to take general clothes, i.e.: trunks, a few shirts, a pair of good walking shoes or sandals, a light pair of pants and a wind breaker jacket in case it gets a bit chilly at night. (+20 is what they consider chilly there by the way). Any other clothes you need you can buy there, i.e.: 5x shirts for 20.00$ can/us, Oakley sun glasses 15.00$ can/us, etc. The more you negotiate and appear to walk away then the lower the price will become. You will most likely get around by taxi, you can book at the front desk of the condo or step on the road and wave your hand, there are lots of them, just like in New York. There are lots of adventure day trips to go on and you can ask at the front desk to help you arrange this. For any day trip/adventure it will cost you around 75.00$ to 125.00$ can./us each for admission/food/drinks/taxi. If you like zoos there is Crockacoun where you can hold crocks and walk amongst them, interact with monkeys, see snakes, etc. ( my family loves it there) There is a cool mall in Cancun with a built in aquarium where you can swim with sharks.
There’s Quad tours if you like that kind of stuff just outside Playa Car, Etc... Xel -Ha((website: hidden)) is a great way to spend the day if you like the water and outdoors, outdoor aquariums, snorkeling, swimming with dolphins. There is a river that you float down on a tube and lots of general things to see, it’s also all inclusive if you buy that package. It will take the whole day. Xcaret((website: hidden)) will take a whole day to look around, it has caves, water activities and a night style Vegas show. It will take the whole day. Xplore((website: hidden)) has lots of outdoor activities such as zip lines, caves, atvs, cenotes, etc. It will take a whole day. You can go deep sea fishing out of Puerto Moralis (or buy fresh fish from the market or docks). If you do go, take a large boat so as not to get sick from the waves. Usually you can charter a whole large boat with 2 stories, a small kitchen, bathroom, 35 to 40 feet long just for your group of 4+ people for 4 hours for the same as individual bookings on a small boat where you may get sea sick. (Around 100.004 can./us. each.) When you’re done fishing for the day they will cook the fish up in the restaurant for you free of charge. Puerto Aventuras is a small marina community, 15 min taxi ride from the complex. You can see the yachts, go swimming with the dolphins or manites, watch the sea lions, golfing, etc. There are good restaurants and Mexican shops along the dock/peer in the city center. You can go swimming with the dolphins, sharks, whale sharks, etc. Snorkeling and diving all over the coast. There are various catamaran sail boat tours out of Cancun that offer free drinks, trip to islands, snorkeling and parasailing. Or take a pirate ship out for evening supper and get attacked by pirates!! You can visit the various Mayan ruins in Tulum, Chitzenitza, Coba, it’s a day trip and some include food/drinks. Located in Playa Del Carmen on 5th avenue, La quinta in Spanish is an outdoor famous shopping center (it’s like the vegas strip but 35 blocks long). There are no vehicles allowed down this shopping strip. It’s a 10 min walk from our condo complex or 3 min taxi ride. You can spend all day there shopping and looking around. There are several good restaurants down the strip. We like the Cuban restaurant with it’s all you can eat chicken. For desert we like to go the the French bakery for some tasty sweets located on 31st and 5th ave. All the fast food restaurants are there if you need a big mack. (MacDonald's, burger
king, Dairy queen, sub way, KFC, etc). There’s some good regular restaurants all along the.
The town has a great night life. Clubs are usually open until 3 am.. All cab rides in this area are 50 to 80 pesos 4.50 to 7.00$ Can./us. There is Senior Frogs bar/beach restaurant for some munchies and drinks during the day and tons of bars and clubs. Coco bongo costs 40.00$ can./us to get in and all drinks are free. It’s a discotheque with a Vegas like show of impersonators. If you go there for the eve plan on being there tell 5 am because it just keeps going.... Blue Parrot is also a popular club. If you get tired of 5th avenue and want a quiet place to shop and look around you can walk 5min from our condo complex and go to the bird sanctuary (discount with the owners card) or Playa Car shopping center and get yourself a Star bucks drink there as well. You can also take the ferry to Cosmel Island for 25.00$ can/us there and back and it’s a 45 min boat ride. There are shops, great snorkeling and diving (2nd largest reef barrier in the world). You can also rent a jeep and tour the island. (If you want to rent a vehicle wait until you’re very close to the island to make the deal with the guy selling rentals on the boat, it will be cheaper that way. Or you can book on the peer when you arrive or on the main strip just off the peer. Cosmel can be a whole day trip as well. There are various Casinos if you want to try your luck like the Play boy in Cancun and there is also one just outside Playa Del Carmen. You can go golfing in Playacar((website: hidden)) this is where our personal condos are and only a short 3 min walk to the entrance. There are several grocery stores to buy food, Costco, SAMs club, Wall mart, etc. All located 5 min taxi ride away.
