Large, fully-equipped, comfortable, executive home; 2700 square feet. A tranquil retreat surrounded by colourful gardens, with cool breezes; and offering prenominal, panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Isla Chora and beautiful Samara Beach, which is a short 10 minute walk away. Jacuzzi lounge pool, high speed internet, satellite TV, ceiling fans throughout, safe, drinkable cold & hot town water, as well as filtered water. North American high standards of construction were used.
Howler Monkeys, a variety of interesting birds and Iguanas, and other wildlife (pizotes, armadillos...) are constant visitors. Rather than driving, take a lovely walk on the beach another 10 minutes into the town of Samara. There you'll find grocery stores, banks, post office, police, Doctor's Clinic, pharmacy, hair & nail salons, many shops and a variety of good restaurants. Dine on the beach, order the fresh catch of the day - Red Snapper, Dorado, shrimp or 'langosta'; or eat Italian, vegetarian, BBQ, or sushi.
Samara has a coral reef making the beach area safe for swimming and excellent for watersports. Only a 5 minute drive to uninhabited Carrillo beach. Play in the local tide pools and experience tropical acquatic life. Everyday is a beautiful summer day.
We built this spacious home for ourselves but do not use it year- round, which gives you an opportunity to share our dream. All furniture is from craftsmen of Sarchi, pottery from Guatil, and beautiful finishings of teak ceilings and use of guanacaste, cedar and other Costa Rican woods, comfortably envelopes you in the feel of this country of diversity.
Your tranquil retreat will not be shared in seclusion. Timid Howler monkeys and an abundance of birds will remind you that you share their space. The array of flowers in the gardens attract a multitude of butterflies and hummingbirds. View wildlife from the comfort of the wide, covered terrace that surrounds the house while relaxing in rocking chairs, hammocks, or at the outdoor tables. Across the road from this property is coastal jungle, and a quiet-use canopy tour.
Two hours drive to Liberia International Airport; four hours to San Jose. City of Nicoya is a half hour drive away; with hospital, banks, supermarkets, clothing, restaurants, etc. All paved roads to within last hundred meters to our property.

We had an incredible time staying at Casa Pastor in the hills above Samara . The sound of Howler monkeys along with the magnificent view in a beautiful house, made this an unforgetable holiday. We even were able to go exploring in trails through the jungle and observe the howler monkeys 25 metres from the entrance.

We have stayed at Casa Pastor twice so far, and give it a five-star recommendation as a comfortable vacation home. It accommodates four couples in separate bedrooms, with the entire home and property spacious and well-designed for entertaining. On the other hand, the beautiful plantings, patios and spa make it ideal as a romantic getaway for two. The view is outstanding, there are two beaches close by, the local beach town friendly with good service, and the larger town inland for more shopping a short trip away on good roads. The hosts, the Shepherds, are knowledgeable and obligingly helpful, and the house well-equipped. They've made it a top-notch place to stay, at a very reasonable price.

Our second trip to Costa Rica and Casa Pastor was even more wonderful. We spent a glorious month at this hideaway for the second time and would highly recommended it to anyone looking for a tranquil retreat yet within walking distance of all amenities. The house and its panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean is simply fantastic. It is tastily decorated and you feel right at home the minute you arrive. We enjoyed all the wildlife surrounding the house, including the Howler monkeys’ early morning call, the cool ocean breezes, the colorful garden and the many restaurants and beaches that Samara offers. Everyday just melted into sweet summer days of fun and relaxation. What a great bargain. We will go back again.

Gorgeous Casa Pastor -- the name explains it well, you feel like you are
staying in a pastoral castle on a mountain. The view of the ocean is
phenomenal, as are the wildlife that surround it: monkeys, toucans,
hummingbirds and iguanas are all inhabitants of this region. Its hilltop
location allows for a fabulous ocean cross-breeze that keeps the building cool
and well-ventilated. The garden is colorful and charming, and the outdoor
jacuzzi is a nice touch. The rooms are spacious, modern yet comfortable. The
cleaning staff are immaculate. Staying at Casa Pastor felt like living a James
Bond movie, thank you for fulfilling the fantasy.

Costa Rica is a wonderful place to visit. The people are friendly and Casa Pastor is a great home in the sun to stay. Close to all the best beaches and far enough from the town to be quiet and relaxing.

My young daughter and I had the most wonderful two week vacation at Casa Pastor! The house is gorgeous - beautiful gardens, fish pond, and fountain. So much space! Great location! Beautiful tile floors. Great animal watching - we saw monkeys in neighbouring trees, iguanas on the roof, armadillos in the garden, tiny lizards high up on the walls, and many species of birds! It was a good walk to the beach, where we could watch the little hermit crabs and wade in the ocean or suntan on the picture-perfect beach all day. Nice restaurants on the beach, lots of spots to get refreshing drinks nearby (guanabana con leches were our favourite!), and a cool-down in the "cold tub" before bed. Samara is a cozy small town full of friendly, helpful people with lots of shops for amenities and souvenirs. My favourite spot in the world is now the hammock at Casa Pastor, where you can overlook the small bay and Playa Samara and the entire ocean while reading a book.
