Not your typical cottage...this One of a Kind Year Round Retreat was built in the early 1920's as a summer hide-away & labor of love. It's considered 'charming' mostly, and to me feels like an old English cottage. Architecturally, it's a combined arts & crafts, romantic revival, & transitional period style making it somewhat unique as a custom designed beach bungalow of yester-year.
We're just 5 houses back from what I think is a pretty magical spot in Manomet overlooking Cape Cod Bay. In a minute's walk the views begin to take shape & you stand overlooking nostalgic 'Manomet Bluffs' beach. Expansive views of Cape Cod Bay greet you, then a rocky cove to the distant left & private sandy beach at your feet. There's over a mile of shoreline for strolling, 'seaglunking' (treasure hunting), dog walking, sunrises, moonrises, jogging, beachcombing, kayaking, off-season seal watching...it's a great place to come anytime of the year.
Our beach house offers a natural woodland setting. We're 'pet friendly', nestled on just under 1 acre, with a woodland border & completely fenced in. We're certified as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Preservation Foundation, and we hope you'll feel comfortable enough to think of this cottage as your own and love it as much as we do.
We're fond of all that encourages you to take the opportunity to settle in and find exactly what you need to relax and renew with family and friends. We offer an array of books, a private meditation & yoga studio for those wanting uninterrupted space or you can schedule a massage/reiki practitioner to come to the house.
Pack light, the house is well equipped with all your basic needs and what we've missed you can find just down the street at local shops. We do our best to help make your stay a spot that you & your family will want to come back to enjoy year after year.
There are a few ways we can accommodate your stay while remaining flexible & affordable for everyone. The Main House rents by itself & sleeps 11-13 people. The Sycamore Cottage, also on the property rents separately & most comfortably for 2 people although it can accommodate 4. It is also possible to rent both Cottages for larger groups of up to 15 people. Please inquire for more info.
Here are some of our 'favorite things to do'...
Summer: All you need is book in bag, towel in hand, & toes in sand. It's time to hit the beach! Cape and Islands too! The backyard is perfect for picnics, frisbee, catch, cookouts, late night stories...don't forget the tents if the kids would rather sleep outside in the fresh air, under the stars for a night or two.
Autumn: In New England! Enjoy cool nights, hot fires & comfortable days. Fall foliage peaks late October. Welcome back the seals with us as they congregate on the rocks just off shore to spend another winter frolicking in the sea. The Plimoth Plantation is always open until Nov 28th & hosts a traditional 1620's Thanksgiving Feast, but book early. The Cape & the Islands quiet down this time of year and local shops on Rt6A welcome late season visitors.
Winter: Discounted off-season rates, let you settle into deep silent nights & gather up your energy for a well wished for new year. Perfect for romantic weekend get-a-ways & family gatherings in front of the fireplace to reconnect with loved ones.
Spring: New Beginnings! The return of much anticipated sights, smells & sounds in Nature. Stirred towards the fresh spring air of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths & forsythia, the outdoors is calling. Play!...in the garden or on the beach. Explore what this past winters storms have drudged up. These relics are perfect adornments for a new 'community development project' - fairy houses! Build them in the beach sands & edged woodlands for others to discover. Our way of having fun, being creative & paying homage to our Natural world.
We invite you to come & take this opportunity to appreciate the simple pleasures in your Life. Family, friends, pets & Nature offer us the greatest nourishment and Joy for our Lives, but we have to choose them for ourselves and slow down long enough to enjoy them.
Your stay here greatly contributes in the upkeep and maintenance of this nearly 100 year old home while it is literally being 'loved well' again, by all the families who visit. 10% of all profits go to support local & global sustainability efforts including the healing arts, cooperation with Nature and deepening our connection with Spirit. Drawing the world closer in harmony & support of the Living Oneness in All Life is what we embrace & support. Thank you, we look forward to your visit!
