The view is stunning. Right on ocean with waves crashing into rocky shoreline. Saw whales and dolphins from lanai. Saw turtles from cove next to pool which is heated and not busy. The building itself is older but the unit has been updated so kitchen and bath are modern. Parking is tricky as small spots on a couple of different levels of hillside, but minor issue given how great the location is. We would definitely consider staying there again.

We had been planning this vacation to Kauai for a very long time and it paid off! We had great service through aloha GVR and enjoyed every minute of our trip. The Condo was much better than we had anticipated it might be considering never having rented a property off of a rental website before. It was the best location in the complex! We were close to the water, the pool (but not too close) and near the BBQ area. Being in the middle we gained extra Lanai space without even planning it that way. We spent a lot of time on the lanai and it was nice to have extra room. The condo was set up very well, a good starter amount of amenities to get you going, clean, spacious and so nice to have laundry in the unit! The only thing I'd say we missed were a few cooking tools/utensils. We ate many meals at home and had to improvise quite a bit. The location was amazing, we could hear the waves at night and everyday saw many pods of whales and dolphins about 50-100 yards offshore...amazing!!! We walked to Brennecke's beach everyday (5 minute walk) for great boogie boarding and snorkeling. If you're a walker there are many places to easily get to to eat, shop and explore. We didn't need our car very much, except to explore the rest of the island. The story of the family that owns this unit (the ahmann family) was inspiring and made it all the more special to be staying in that unit. The only thing I'd change if the condo allows would be pub height chairs and table on the lanai so you can see over the railing, but still be safe...and a few more cooking tools. I'd give a rating of 4.5 of 5 if it was an option...we hope to be back next year. It really exceeded our expectations and was a great trip! Thanks for the opportunity to use it!

This condo was an amazing find - spectacular views - the waves were pounding on the rocks 24/7 - if the constant sound of the surf crashing would bother you this is not for you but we thought is was incredible. Both bedrooms very well appointed and comfortable. We were there for a week and the only thing I would change is get mid-week maid service - easy to track in a lot of sand in a couple of days. Kitchen was modern and just fine. Parking a bit of a challenge but we always had a spot.

We stayed at this place for about a week. The condo has a fantastic view of the ocean with the noise of the waves hitting the shores. Good laundry facility, clean kitchen and bathrooms. We are looking forward to another trip back and rent out the same condo!

Wonderful place to stay. Well appointed, spacious, and convenient.
The Sunset was a bit awkward because the sun set well off to one side of the balcony. If you stood up, though, the sunsets were beautiful over the island.
A short walk to a great beach.
The highlight of this stay, though, was the consistent visitation of turtles in the crashing waters of the ocean just along the pool. I have some fantastic photos from just meters (yards) away. The turtles, along with the helicopter ride of kawaikini and the north shore, the tubing adventure through the irrigation tunnels, and the shave ice (notice the spelling) at Shave Ice Paradise, this island offered a fantastic vacation for my young family, 39, 39, 10, 11, 12.

We had an amazing experience at 304a at Poipu Shores. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo was modern, spacious, and clean. The view of the ocean was just amazing and like nothing we've ever seen. The ocean is a major part of view in every room except second bedroom. Being right next to ocean does mean waves are a bit loud, but we loved it. Kitchen was modern, well stocked, and the grill downstairs worked great. The pool is in a beautiful location and quite nice if a bit small.
The location in Poipu is wonderful and it is a short walk to nice eating at Brenneke's and several beaches and playgrounds. It also is quite close to the beautiful Hyatt where we made several trips.
Mahalo for submitting a review - we appreciate it!

This was our fourth stay in Kauai - our third at Poipu Shores. Needless to say, we love the place. Being on the third floor was perfect. Our ocean view was spectacular and the accomdoations were great. The staff at Great Vacations were very responsive when we called them about getting an ironing board and laundry soap. We will definitely return.

We really enjoyed our stay at Poipu Shores! The unit was newly remodeled and very clean. The lanai was our favorite place to be with an incredible view where we watched whales, turtles and magnificent sunsets! The windows in one of the bedrooms offered very private views of the ocean as well, along with the sound of crashing waves. The second bedroom has no ocean views though with windows opening to the common walk way, which tended to be noisy at times. The setting of the pool was also very relaxing and enjoyable. We used the kitchen often but did have to share the BBQ downstairs. We were a group of 6, including two children, and expected accommodations for 6 as the website indicated, knowing that the children would sleep on the fold out couch. The mattress on the couch, however, was not suitable for anyone to sleep on, even small children. We ended up using the couch cushions to make them a bed. I would say that the unit will actually only accommodate 4 comfortably. When we arrived, we noticed we were short on towels and called to request more. We were told that we would need to drive to another location to pick up towels, which was inconvenient. We did have a few small maintenance issues and once we called about them, someone was out within a few hours to take care of them which impressed us. We were pleasantly surprised with the supplies available for our use. We had plenty of soap, shampoo, garbage bags, etc. for our entire stay. The location was perfect and close to Poipu Beach. Overall, I would say that the property itself was a bit dated but our unit was nice. The location and views were what won us over!

We were on the island for two months, spending one week in Poipu Shores 304a. This condo is minimally decorated, so it's not too homey, but it is in a beautiful location. We loved listening to the crashing (sometimes very loudly crashing) waves against the rocks. The wall to wall windows in the master bedroom and the living room allow for beautiful views. If you can pull yourself from the fabulous view off the patio, it is very close walking distance to the beach for snorkeling and shell gathering. We watched whales, dolphins and turtles. It was fun to see the sailboats, fishing boats, divers, snorklers and tour catamarans go by. We marveled at the colorful sunrises, sunsets and rainbows every day of our stay. Bring your binoculars!
The bedding was clean and comfortable, pillows and mattresses average, loved the look of the master bedroom decorations. The master bathroom was very nice, but the guest bathroom was horrible, we couldn't get rid of the sewer odor even after they cleaned the building's system, so we just shut the door and didn't use it much. The dishwasher pretty much didn't work, we washed/ scrubbed the dishes when we arrived and found we had to do the dishes by hand if we wanted them to be clean - not convenient, but not too big of a deal for two of us. We ran across a couple of bugs under the kitchen sink area, so I'm guessing they need to spray. The other appliances worked well.
There were a couple of beach chairs, small umbrella, and beach towels, but not snorkeling or other gear. There were plenty of cleaning supplies, paper goods, soaps, shampoo, hair conditioner and lotions, a,d small amt of laundry soap. There was a fan for circulation, which did come in handy.
In this area we enjoyed a fabulous dinner at The Beach House restaurant, liked Brennecke's, Merriman's, The Dolphin and Tortilla Republic Grill and Bar, Brick Oven Pizza, the list goes on. Shop for food and other items at Costco or the Safeway. Check Kauai's Best guidebook.

Superb location right on the ocean. The pounding surf and onshore breeze were awesome. The location is great with a very short walk to Poipu Beach Park. The view from the balcony is fantastic. The condo is well equipped in the kitchen. Very nice, clean and comfy. I would definitely stay here again.
