delightful cottage in a great location. The kids really enjoyed crab fishing just outside the front and we could sit and have an early evening drink in the sun on the table and chairs at the front of the cottage.

Loved our stay at Quay cottage. The cottage is really quirky with something new catching your eye every day. It is really comfy and in an amazing spot. The dogs loved the enclosed garden. Fish and Chips from across the way are a must and even delivered to the door. All in all Porlock Wier is a great place to stay. Staff at The Best of Exmoor were excellent, responding extremely promptly to any questions (even on a Sunday evening)

We have had a really good service, with updated information at the right times. we were concerned beforehand that the flooding may afflect our stay but when questioned they were honest and upfront. we found the cottage clean and as descibed but i don't feel the pictures actually does it justice, it is actually bigger than the pictures suggest. There was everything you needed for a weeks holiday without having to overload the car. The location was fabulous with enough local shops, restuarants and pubs to cater for most essentials. The cottage is only a short drive (Up Porlock Hill or take the meandering Toll road) from the Moors and all that the Moors has to offer. What did I like about it the best, waking up in the morning watching the waves crash against the pebble beach and my least favourite thing forgetting my hand axe to chop the drift wood for the fire.

This is a gorgeous cottage in an amazing location.
It was much larger on the inside then we expected and so had ample room for the four of us. It was great having the kids in the downstairs bedroom as it meant we could have a peaceful rest in the mornings.
It was a shame that the downstairs carpet was not replaced after it was damaged by flood water and I understand why they were waiting till the next high tide to pass before it was replaced, but a few more rugs would have been nice. It would have been 5 stars if it weren't for this.

We visited in November and the cottage is wonderful including the log burning stove. Right on the harbour you can lay in bed and listen to the sea and look out of the window across the harbour and marsh. Wonderful walks from the door including all over the pebble beach. If you want peace and quiet with a good pub and food on your doorstep then this is for you. I probably wouldn't recommend for younger children due to how close it is to the harbour and the fact you have to walk over the lock to get to the cottage.
"Glorious location, weather, peace and quiet. Batteries recharged"

The booking with The Best of Exmoor was very easy, and the information received was very helpful.
Quay Cottage was most comfortable, very well appointed, with a wonderful position. I think more could have been made of the garden which we found untidy. It could be made to look much more attractive.
The fish and chip shop was superb. We had 2 meals, and both were 1st class. They even bought over our meals, and were most pleasant.
Although the location was quiet, the village offered everything we needed.
Is Quay Cottage haunted? I heard lots of noises, mainly from the roof area, or was i dreaming. Nobody else heard them!!

From the outset efficient reservation/booking service. On arrival fresh flowers and bottle of wine to greet us, good standard of cleanliness in Quay Cottage, which is situated in a superb location on Turkey Island in Porlock Weir harbour, accessible from the 'mainland' by robust footbridge. Every window from the cottage had amazing views of the open sea, the harbour & yachts, and the hills of Exmoor beyond. We were withing easy stroll of 2 excellent restaurants (the cafe & Millers) and local pub, and also the excellent Exmoor catering company who delivered freshly cooked meals direct to our door, when we felt like staying in! Only criticism, the garden & patio needed tidying up & the lovely walled garden was in dire need of some maintenance & TLC! Outside lights in garden & Summer house were not working - great shame, as we would have liked to enjoy some evening drinks 'al fresco' as the weather was warm, but without any lighting, this was not possible!
Inside, some light bulbs had 'blown' (on the stairway and main bedroom), but no suitable spares available. However, apart from those minor niggles, we would definitely like to return to thislovelyautumnal home.

Quay Cottage is in a brilliant location in Porlock Weir. There's always something going on in the harbour - when the tide's out there's crab fishing - when it's in there's all the fun of watching the fishermen landing their catch - that's without the fascination of watching the water itself! The cottage was perfect for our needs with a bedroom and bathroom downstairs for an elderly aunt. Altogether lovely and we hope to return next year.
"Quirky and different from other similar holidays"

The cottage was a delight to stay in, very comfortable, everything you need, although would have liked a few less cobwebs in the bedrooms, toilets etc! The local area was extremely attractive and unspoilt. Would have liked to have seen a history of the cottage somwhere in the property, as it would have been very interesting. Did try to get a copy of the postcard that was in the cottage showing it many years earlier, but couldn't get one, even from Judges, who produced it.
