We stayed in this vacation home (Blue Lagoon) 8/4-8/9/2013. Our family visits Port A at least once a summer every year.We have stayed in numerous other properties in and around Port Aransas and this is the first one we have ever stayed in that regulated how cool the house could be. The temperature could only be at 74, no lower. In August, and in Port A with humidity all day and night, this proved to be a very unpleasent stay. While we were there the AC unit stopped working and maintenance workers had to come fix was 83 degrees inside! When we asked what was wrong, the repair man said 'lots of stuff'. The first floor room and third floor room remined uncomfortable the entire stay. Very unpleasent after a day in the sun!The weekly fee should be enough to allow a cooler temp. The home sleeps 12 but, only will seat 5 in the living room. No floor pillows for kids to sit on and watch a movie or play games. We were very dissapointed that the bunk bed room (which most will assume is for kids to stay in) has no cable. Just a tv/vcr with one VCR movie. Hard when you have a four year old wanting to watch Disneyjr. Also, there was no cable in the first floor until our son found a cable cord in the kids room and hooked it up himself. The pans are old so, bring your own but, while we were there staff did bring some nice Pyrex dishes and coffee mugs. There is no cable remote in the third floor room so, you cannot change channels. When staff was notified (twice) nothing was done. There are also no bath mats in any of the bathrooms and no non-skid mats in the tub. We are visiting Port A again in September but, will rent somewhere else. We will not rent this property again which is dissapointing considering how great this house could be.

When we arrived we had to tighten about 7 door knobs on the property. The bathroom door knob literally fell off. Luckily we had a screwdriver. The house was really dirty. Goldfish and cereal all over the floor. The floor plan layout is a little bizarre with the elevator and the lower level. The location is nice, just expected nicer accommodations for the amount of money we spent.
“Unhappy with house but still had fun in Port Aransas”

I've rented houses in Port Aransas for about 15 years and this is the first time I feel the need to complain about a house. We had several big complaints about this house and an endless list of mild complaints that individually wouldn't make for a bad stay but there were too many problems with this house to ignore.
1. ice machine broken and no ice trays (machine fixed on our 3rd day).
2. iron but no ironing board
3. no broom
4. master and queen mattresses VERY uncomfortable
5. queen bedroom can only be accessed from outside or by using elevator...not practical if you have kids
6. bedroom fans stuck on highest setting...very windy and loud when trying to sleep
7. no cookie sheets or bakeware (like 9 x 13 pans)...one rusty pizza pan
8. no decent knives....there were a few kitchen knives but they were all serrated.
9. no sheets/blanket for sofa bed
Our biggest complaints:
Website says "12 dining seats" which implies 12 people can sit and eat...
1. small table had 3 chairs and one bench that could seat 3 small children or 2 adults. There were also 4 chairs at bar. That's 10 people max.
2. only 3 dinner knives
3. only a handful of coffee cups. We had to take turns drinking coffee in the AM.
"Resort-style, 3 head shower" was broken. Only a trickle of water came out of one head. People with long hair had to use a different shower just to be able to rinse.
Water pressure at this house is VERY low. We also rented a house down the street and they said pressure was low there too but nothing like this house.
The website touts an "incredible", "perfect island escape". For what we paid we should not have had all these issues. I don't know if it's the owner's fault or property managements fault but I absolutely won't stay in this house again.

Loved the location, property was clean except for the fridge. Elevator was a nice addition but door knobs on each floor were broken making it hard to use. There were no genereal comfort items :bath mats, tissues, hair dryer.Property faced the pond not the ocean. Stayed at the property located across the pond a few years ago, liked the layout much better.

We rented this property for the month of February, 2013. There were a few items that needed attention when we arrived (Internet and burned out light bulbs). We mentioned it to the agency and went grocery shopping. When we returned they had all been addressed. Fantastic service. Would like to have the ability to make local outgoing phone calls. We were happy enough that we decided to rent for two months next year!
