Additional Location Information

The idyllic little village of Leisure Bay is located just north of Port Edward. This part of the south coast is popular with artists, and many of them live and work in the area. Leisure Bay has some of the most picturesque beaches in Natal.

The resort is just a ten minute drive from the Wild Coast Casino with the newWild Waves water Park.

Just a few kilometers inland from Port Edward is the Umtamvuma Nature Reserve. Here the visitor will find a nesting colony of Cape vultures among the high cliffs that run along the river. The petrified forest, officially known as the Mzamba Cretaceous Deposits, is a set of famous marine fossil beds and an exposed 10-metre cliff band that forms a prominent headland about 2,5 kilometres south of the Mtamvuna River.

Breath-taking Oribi Gorge, just 25 minutes inland from Port Shepstone, might well be described as an African Grand Canyon. The Wild Swing at Oribi Gorge, is the highest of its kind in the world, sends you free-falling over the edge of Lehr's Falls into a 100m arc (the equivalent of jumping of a 33 story building), reaching speeds of 120 kilometres per hour.

Beaver Creek Coffee estate, 10 km away, also offers visitors a daily ‘crop to cup’ tour that outlines the distinctive flavours of the world’s coffee regions and the processes involved in creating the perfect cup. The Estate Cafe serves delicious meals and a range of freshly roasted coffee all day.

The Indian Ocean presents the year-round delights of frolicking dolphins and majestic, cruising whales, this enchantment peaks each June or July with 'The Greatest Shoal on Earth' - the annual winter Sardine Run is a wonder of the world and one of nature's truly grand spectaculars when 20-thousand dolphins plus thousands of sharks, hundreds of fur seals, uncountable game fish and the occasional whale - all herding and feeding from a millions-strong sardine shoal while massed squadrons of sea-birds rain down from above.

King Shaka airport are 160 km from Leisure Bay but offers a shuttle service to and from the Wild Coast Sun.
