Description
La Solana is a small but fully equipped cottage attached to the main farmhouse. It has a private entrance, large patio and roof terrace with stunning views of the mountains, the village and surrounding countryside. It is up a short track which is shared by a neighbour and ourselves. The track disappears into the olive groves, offering lovely evening strolls with more views of the beautiful countryside. The village is five minutes away by car and the autovia just a short drive away which will connect you with Málaga, Córdoba, Granada, Seville and Jaén. Villanueva del Trabuco is quite a large village and has all the facilities, supermarkets, banks, bakers, bars and restaurants and health centre. It is famous for its amazing countryside and the 'cien caños' (one hundred waterpipes), a beauty spot where people admire the crystal clear spring water that gushes out of a hundred pipes hammered into the rock face. There are some spectacular walks around this area and we can put you in touch with a English speaking guide if you wish to explore the area fully. He is local and recently qualified as a geologist so can also explain about the fantastic mountain scenery . There is horse riding too, if you wish to take in the bucolic setting on horse back. The beaches at Málaga are about 50 minutes drive and Málaga, besides having museums, art galleries, a castle, Arab fortress and Roman amphitheatre is the place to go for international bars and night life. Córdoba is about 2hrs away and has many ancient monuments including the Arabic mosque and Roman remains. Jaén (2hrs) has a National Park, Cazorla, which is truly beautiful with lakes and verdant valleys and the last remaining stand of sequoias in Spain. Granada (1.5hrs) has the famous Arab palace, the Alhambra, and adjoing haven, the Generalife gardens. It has a vibrant Arab quarter where besides buying Arabic slippers, music and belly dancing outfit you can also taste some of the cuisine. Seville is a little further but doable in a day although you may not get a chance to take in all the sights.

House rules
We would appreciate that they remove their rubbish daily and deposit it in one of the large grey bins positioned along the roadside for this purpose. Plastics go in a yellow bin, bottles in the green bins.
The outside door should be kept closed to prevent our neighbour's dogs coming into the patio.
