Comfort, Charm & Convenience on a quiet road that feels like country 12 minutes from downtown Portland, Oregon. Relax into 2 bedrooms, living room w/wood stove, dining room, updated vintage kitchen & designer bath with 3 decks to the garden, hot tub, and bbq.
Here's a unique place to find yourself; a beautiful peace of countryside located 12 minutes S.W. of downtown Portland, Oregon. There's a a bit of old world here; a sweet retreat from the hipness & culture we love about Portland.
The home is nestled in the quiet & beauty of mature heritage gardens with an old forested park down the lane.
There's some good art and great books in every room.
You've 3 of your own entrances into the garden, with decks.
The beds have been custom built into window nooks; please note they are elevated and not standard sizes, w/ mattresses made of latex, foam, feather & cotton combinations. One bed is slightly larger than a 'double' and the other is wider & longer than a twin. Couples like the coziness. Others relish the solitary comfort. Sheets are good cotton, blankies are down, wool or silk. Colors are rich and calming.
The bathroom floor is heated beneath the smooth blue pebbles; the shower is spacious.
Vintage kitchen is updated & easy. But why cook? I'll provide easy breakfast fixins'; you can make your coffee, tea, or juice in the Vita Mix.
There's a fire pit down by the grapes, and the hot tub is beneath the timber bamboo.
Chickens are clucking across the creek. Our old dog Joey just watches them now.
The wood stove can be a warming comfort any season.
Guest Access:Fully appointed 2 bedrooms, each bed comfortable for 2; living room w/wood stove, dining room, vintage kitchen & designer bath. Doors open to 3 decks for the garden, hot tub, or bbq.
The home is nestled in the quiet & beauty of mature heritage gardens.
There's old forested park down the lane with an old arched stone bridge over the creek that tumbles through boulders year round.
You can enjoy hikes through the woods or find refuge here, indoors & out.
There's an organic grocer up at the corner and a few restaurants nearby but not of much note for a foodie; for that you've got to go to town!Getting around:Its probably best to have a car to get here. Frequent public transport is a 15 minute walk away. The bus at the corner only comes once an hour and the winding roads don't have bike lanes, but I bike to town in 30 min.
The home is on a hill and there are steps and stairs to negotiate.
The beds are custom and both elevated in height - this could be an accessibility concern.
The Rosie Room bed is higher than standard and 6" wider than a full double.
The 'Captain's Bed' is a custom bed set in a window alcove; it is wider and longer than a standard twin and is quite elevated in height.
I ask that given it is an old house that guests are mindful of the soundscape as loud voices can carry. Smoking outdoors on the decks is OK as long as the windows and doors are closed. Otherwise, there are many lovely seating spots throughout the garden.TripAdvisor property ID 2480205...Read more

My spouse and 8 month old baby had a wonderful few days at the farmhouse cottage. The surrounding gardens are breathtaking, and have a seemingly endless number of artistic gems hidden throughout. The attention to detail is evident both inside and out.
We spent the afternoons lounging outside, and the evenings around the amazing wooden dining room table while laughing with friends. It was a perfect location to feel like you're "getting away from it all", but also being incredibly close to downtown. We spent one morning at the zoo, and another exploring downtown and the Saturday market. Both were a very short drive away, but the cottage is in a location that makes you feel like you aren't in a city at all.
The kitchen was well stocked with more than we expected, and we had great interactions with the owners. Jake was very friendly and helpful, and their dog Joey was absolutely wonderful.
Would definitely stay here again :)
