Additional Location Information

Battery House is located in the historic heart of old Portsmouth,Portsmouth, Hampshire on the English South Coast and overlooking The Solent water and Isle of Wight. Situated away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and harbour front, but surrounded by sea and cobbled streets. Portsmouth is one of Britain's medium sized cities, famous for being home to the British Navy and as a major ferry port steepd in maritime history. Badly damaged in WW2 the city has since recovered, rebuilty and rejuventated so that today it is rapidly becoming a leading tourist destination, helped by the new Spinnaker Tower, historic dockyard, including King Henry VIII's flagship "Mary Rose" (which sank overloaded in around 1545 in The Solent and is now on display in the Historic dockyard), as well it's glorious setting around the harbour and Solent. Being totally flat, Portsmouth is very easy to walk. Indeed nearly all the city sights are within walking distance and most other visitor attractions are accessible by train, ferry or hovercraft or bus, reducing the need for a car for those who wish not to drive. Even london is only 90 minutes away.
