Villa Daria is a charming independent house surrounded by the greenery. It sleeps six people. From Villa Daria you will enjoy an enchanting view of the sea and of the coastline. Villa Daria is 120 square meters (1290 square feet). It features a private garden.
You will be in a pedestrian precinct, in the medieval historic center of Praiano , where you will find shops and public transportation. You will find the closest restaurant, the stop for the SITA bus Amalfi - Sorrento line at 200 meters (660 feet) and the closest beach at 300 meters (approximately 990 feet) including 300 stairway steps. You will reach Villa Daria going down a 150-meters (490-feet) public walkway that cuts through green Mediterranean gardens and includes approximately 110 stairway steps.
You will not need a car to stay at Villa Daria. If you do have one, you will be able to park it at approximately 200 meters (220 yards), for a fee, in a public parking lot (being the lot a public one, parking spaces can not be reserved).
Villa Daria occupies an entire floor of a historic three-story building that clings to the rocky coastline. The ocean view will spread out before you, offering a fascinating aspect from which to enjoy the glorious Amalfi Coast : between you and the sea there is only a narrow strip of green-fringed coastline, forming a narrow pathway that is capped by an ancient rectangular guard tower.
Villa Daria is located in the “Vettica” neighborhood of the historic center of Praiano, on the sloping land that extends from the main coastal road down to the ocean. Here, there are small whitewashed buildings with vaulted roofs, connected by narrow vertical stairways and equally narrow lanes which can be traversed only on foot. Along these alleys you will find ancient votive shrines, each containing the image of a Saint painted on ceramic tiles. The owners of the properties along the alleys used to build these small shrines on the external walls to mark and protect the property itself. Walking along these alleys is pleasant, notwithstanding the steps, because at every turn a new and enchanting view of the coast and of the sea suddenly appears in front of you.
Every house here has a small garden or a yard full of flowers. Scattered among the houses there are small plots of land, where neat vegetable gardens are grown, overflowing at any time of the year with vegetables and perfumed citrus trees. These gardens are as nice to see as flower gardens. This is where the real residents of Praiano live, away from the tourist crowds.
To reach the villa from the main coastal road, you will first need to walk down a short stairway of approximately 15 steps to reach the piazza of a splendid seventeenth-century baroque church dedicated to St. Gennaro. This broad piazza is angled towards the sea, and from here you will be able to enjoy a particularly charming panoramic view of the Amalfi Coast. A narrow pedestrian road leads away from the piazza - after walking along this path for about 150 meters (165 yards), you will arrive at the villa. Along this walkway, there are 109 stairs.
The last part of the journey will take you down a small stairway that faces directly onto the sea. Here, the sea forms a fantastic narrow passageway, watched over by the ancient Torre di Grado , constructed in the 1600s to defend the area from invaders who approached by sea. The stairs lead to a patch of land cultivated with lemon trees and a vegetable garden which extends onto the cliffs that perch above the sea. This land belongs to Villa Daria, and is lovingly cultivated by the owners. The land here is jagged, much like the cliffs that support it. One part of this land, called “il Belvedere”, or “the Lookout”, is on an impressive outcropping of the cliff, surrounded on three sides by the sea. From this land, the sea can be reached by a pathway. When you reach the water, you will find a concrete platform from which you can bathe in the ocean.
The garden is 30 square meters (320 square feet) large. It is partly shaded by a pergola. It is equipped with a table and chairs. From the garden you will enjoy a pleasant view of the sea and of the small Li Galli islands at a distance.
The furnishings of the living room are classic and welcoming. The furnishings include two armchairs and two single divan beds. In this room you will find a large television. From the living room you will be able to enter the small terrace with a view of the sea and of the coastline through a French door. The room also has a window with a view of the sea.
The kitchen is equipped with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with freezer and an Italian-style coffee-maker. There is a table to seat six guests. The furnishings of the kitchen include small wood benches. The kitchen is also equipped with a television. The kitchen has a window with a view of the greenery and of the sea at a distance.
You will be able to enter the first bedroom from the corridor. The bedroom has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). The room has a window with a view of the sea and of the coastline.
You will be able to enter the second bedroom from the corridor. It has two twin beds (80 cm/32 inches). The room has a window with a view of the greenery and of the sea at a distance.
The bathroom is spacious and equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a bathtub with fixed shower head. You will be able to enter the bathroom from the corridor.

After being personally greeted by the owner Nicola and navigating the many steps down we were shown to our huge villa which was spacious for our family of 6. The local supermarket was a short 5 minute hike back up the steps so we stocked up for our 3 night stay. The balcony was a favourite spot for breakfast and a cocktail or two! The swimming spot below the villa was worth the many steps down & the highlight of our stay was the 5 hour boat trip along the amalfi Coast. For a fee Nicola will take you out on his motorboat and show you the sights, even surprising us with a scrumptious homemade picnic lunch with the produce from his very own garden. Our stay at Nicola's villa in Praiano was the best part of our overseas holiday, highly recommended!

We stayed for over a week at Villa Daria. The view was marvelous, the home very roomy and the hosts extremely engaging. We had a five year old with us and she loved the helping tending the animals (rabbits). We had an issue with plumbing in the kitchen (which by the way was huge, the kitchen, not the "issue"!). Fortunately our daughter was able to explain the situation to our host and it was promptly fixed. We were pleased to have an Italian speaker along needless to say. We thought the village of Praiano was the perfect place to stay.....not too touristy but convenient for catching buses to both Sorrento and Ravello. Not having a car was not a problem. In fact it was an asset.
