In our small, exclusive, private hamlet of five luxury stone cottages, Barnacre Cottages, with our own 14 acres of fields surrounded by woodland, in the Forest of Bowland an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Inspected annually by Quality in Tourism and awarded the highest grading of 5* Gold, Mobility 1 assessed. Winners of many local and National awards.

The Piggeries was originally the farm Piggeries and converted in 2001 to a luxury 5* Gold cottage., The Piggeries in Spring 2013, was transformed again to provide outstanding accommodation suitable for family gatherings, 4 couples and groups of friends.

A large, detached 4 en suite bedroomed spacious cottage with modern luxurious features and picture windows making the most of the views across the countryside.

The superb kitchen with a fully equipped hand painted Mark Wilkinson kitchen with Aga stove, gas hob and oven, granite work surfaces, breakfast bar seating and french doors out to the garden areas.

Separate Orangery style dining room.

Fantastic lounge with grand stone fireplace and wood burning stove. French doors leading to conservatory/garden room with doors to large landscaped and private enclosed garden areas..

One family bedroom, with double and single bed, two double bedrooms, twin bedroom can be made into superking bed, all with sparkling new en suite facilities. Making the cottage ideal for families, four couples or groups of friends.

Great walks from our door, visiting wildlife. Tennis court, childrens play area, chickens, pony and pet lambs at springtime.

A family business with resident owners.

A good location, just an hours drive from both Manchester, Liverpool, the Lake District and with historic cities, Lancaster, Chester and York within driving distance.

Getting around

A car is the best way to get around our local area. However, there is a public bus service on the main A6 road a couple of miles away. The nearest train station is Lancaster, Preston is a much larger station a bit further away. We have local taxi firms in nearby Garstang who are happy to provide a service for our guests.

Interaction with guest

We are a family business and live at the cottages location.There is always a family member here, to assist guests with information or anything else they may need. You will be emailed directions and arrival instructions just a few days prior to your arrival here. On your arrival, or shortly after, a family member will call at the cottage to see you and ensure that you are happy with your cottage and answer any questions you might have.

“excellent property in lovely surroundings”

We stayed at the piggeries over Easter it was wonderful from beginning to end .We had three generations staying all had a great time especially our five year old grandaughter Ella who fed the lambs rode the pony and played in the lovely play area. She did not want to come home. We found plenty to do in the area for everyone.Terry and Sue are excellent hosts nothing is to much trouble. Well done to you both for creating such brilliant holiday homes the best we have ever stayed in.We hope to be back soon Regards Brenda

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
