PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: "Honu Cove" is a gorgeous top floor, end unit in the Pali Ke Kua complex (unit 227) in Princeville with the most expansive ocean views you'll ever see. It has all the amenities of a true 2-bedroom condo, but since the upstairs bedroom doesn't have a door, we are required to call it a "loft". The unit is situated on a cliff above a picturesque ocean cove where giant Green Sea Turtles ("Honu" in Hawaiian) frequently swim and feed on the tender seaweed that grows on the rocks. Slightly further out to sea, Humpback Whales regularly swim by during the winter months. And you can view this amazing wildlife on a daily basis from your own beautiful lanai or even from your kitchen table. Oh, and did I mention that there are views of deep green mountains and waterfalls from the master bedroom and, just across the cove, you can see the 7th green/8th tee of the famed Princeville Makai Ocean golf course? It's all true. Simply put, the amazing views and opportunities for wildlife viewing from this condo cannot be paralleled anywhere.
Of course, you come to Kauai to get in the ocean and this condo complex offers something almost no other complex in Princeville offers... a PAVED path to the beach (most others have dirt paths that get very slippery). The paved path goes directly from the complex to the private and nearly-deserted Pali Ke Kua beach which is great for snorkeling or just relaxing (we almost always see Green Sea Turtles while snorkeling there!).
The views and beach access alone would be enough for you to fall in love with this incredible home, but there's so much more. This 1 bedroom + loft unit with 2 full bathrooms has undergone a massive top-to-bottom renovation. The unit sleeps 4 comfortably and is ideal for couples or small families. The master bedroom has a new, 4-poster, king-sized bed with beautiful matching dresser and nightstands. The 2nd bedroom in the loft has a queen-sized bed with matching furniture. Each bedroom has a full adjoining bathroom with shower that has been completely remodeled with new granite-top vanities and new tile showers and floors. There's a gorgeous gourmet kitchen with new cabinetry, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. The dining area, with its new glass-top dining set, is surrounded by windows on 3 sides, each with a gorgeous view. Of course, if you'd prefer to dine al fresco, there is a patio table and chairs on the lanai that allows for unrestricted views of the ocean (and, quite possibly, turtles or whales) while you dine. Back inside, there's gorgeous cherry hardwood flooring throughout the unit. The unit also offers a 40" HDTV with cable/DVD/Blu-ray, complementary WiFi connection and telephone with free long distance to the mainland.
You may have heard about the famed "Bali Hai" sunset as viewed from the exclusive St. Regis Princeville Resort 1/2 mile down the road, but you can marvel at this same sunset just a few steps from your condo. As the sun begins to set, grab your beach chairs (provided) and walk 50 feet out to a beautiful grassy point where you will view one of the most magnificent sunsets in the world. And, while some postings advertise Bali Hai views directly from the condo, keep in mind that Bali Hai is due west of the complex and, by definition, a Bali Hai view means hot afternoon sun in your unit every day. One of the magical qualities of this particular unit is that it has an eastern exposure for cool afternoons on your lanai, but it also has Bali Hai views just 50 feet away. It's the best of both worlds.
Head just down the road to the luxury of the St. Regis Princeville Resort for dinner or entertainment. Of course, there's always the wonderful restaurants in Princeville or Hanalei. Or, maybe you'd rather just enjoy a quiet evening at home and cook a beautiful dinner with fresh fish from the Hanalei Dolphin Fish Market (the freshest fish in town). Sometimes that seems to be the best choice of all.

The condo at Honu Cove was an exceptional condo for all the things we wanted. Clean, remodeled with a perfect cooking kitchen, new bathrooms, hardwood floors, View of the cove(Ocean front), perfect sunsets on the cliff, lanai, new stackable washer/dryer. The bathroom handsoaps & body products are so wonderful I had to go to the store to buy all the Maile products. Love them too! Linens are nice and soft, beach towels and chairs provided. The kitchen has the products you need for cooking if you like to cook( pots, glassware, etc. and very clean). Most of the lights are all on dimmers so it is nice in the evening for atmosphere in bedrooms, dining area & living room area. The electric BBQ worked great, and does need to be warmed up longer with lid on.. did the job.
We are very particular about where we stay and if I could I would come back to Honu Cove in a minute. We are a family of three and my son(12 yrs) slept upstairs in the loft bedroom. Privacy for the adults is good, you can close your bedroom door if need be. I was at first concerned that there is only ceiling fans and no a/C, but when we arrived, we understood... great breezes and fans worked good at three speeds. The sun rises in the am on the lanai and sets on the west, so no afternoon heat, perfect... your not there much any way during the day(summer anyway).
John and Brenda really tried to make it a home away from home and have succeeded!! You will not be disappointed...and I am picky!

Typically, pictures are often better than the real thing; but when my wife & I walked into this condo, our jaws just dropped! The McCaffreys certainly have a keen eye for decorating. The kitchen has the latest appliances and granite counters; wood flooring throughout the home; very comfortable beds; spacious bathrooms, large flat screen TV in the living room and smaller one in the bedrooms; and a BBQ on the lanai. They also provide a beach umbrella and chairs for your beach adventures. They have thought of all the amenities to make you feel at home!
Pali Ke Kua Unit 227 is a piece of heaven where you can sit on the Lanai and watch turtles in the cove below; look at mountains from the front porch; watch magnificant sunsets from the bluff; swim and snorkel at the condo beach or any of the other north shore beaches to die for. We and our friends we traveled with hated to leave.
We took advantage of John's suggestions for restaurants as well as his website recommendations and personal thoughts on things to see and do. If your looking for condo in the beautiful Princeville area of Kauai, look no further. This place is everything advertised and more. Thank you for your hospitality and a great stay on Kauai.
We considered this a 5 star condo in a 5 star location

The McCaffrey condo was an excellent choice for ourselves and another couple...first class in every way with a fabulous view of the Pacific from the deck. The recent renovation made this a 5 star! The view from 200' above the ocean enjoyed every moment, as was the entire island of Kauai. Snorkelling on the private beach was wonderfull. Definately will return and have recommended this to several friends. Larry & Cathy Winnipeg, Canada
Luxurious, peaceful, gorgeous condo with breathtaking views

We visited Kauai for the first time with another couple and John's condo beat our every expectation. The views were just out of this world, and the sunsets and sunrises from the balcony were spectacular. We fell in love with the furniture and the gorgeous floors - John and his wife have impeccable taste. I would live in John's home in a heartbeat. Location is perfect - walking distance to a great snorkeling spot and beach and an easy 1/2 mile to the St Regis for a drink. Also a running path right outside the door. We will definitely be back - I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Our whole experience at Pali Ke Kua was wonderful. The views were breathtaking. Kitchen was stocked with every gadget we could imagine (including coffee bean grinder)! The bed was spacious and comfy and the baths beautiful, well stocked and spotless. We loved the Plumera blossoms scattered about the condo, the fragrance was heavenly.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely unit. It's beautifully furnished with a comfortable and homey feel. The view is amazing; it was a pleasure to start each day on the lanai looking for turtles in the nearby cove. The owners have everything covered...from a well-equipped kitchen and fun activity suggestions to easy to understand instructions for all electronics etc. It is clear they have made extra effort to share their love of Hawaii with all of their visitors. There is much aloha here!

After spending hours researching different rentals located in Princeville, we decided on this condo. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. We were relieved and excited that when we arrived, the condo came as advertised. The views were perfect (both ocean and golf course), the condo was fully stocked with everything you could want, and the service was fantastic from the initial rental process to checkout (both the owners themselves and rental agent). There's a short walk to a beautiful private beach. Also an easy walk or drive to the St. Regis for some beautiful sunsets. Princeville is one of our favorite spots and will definitely be looking to return to this condo in the future.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights after spending the first half of our vacation on the South Shore. While both places (locations and condos) were lovely, we really fell in love with the North Shore...and having a condo like this to come home to every evening made it that much more amazing.
The views from the kitchen/dining/living area and the lanai are just breath taking. We brought a pair of binoculars with us as suggested, and had so much fun looking for sea turtles in the cove and watching windsurfers out on the water -- great entertainment as you sip your morning coffee!
The entire unit is impeccably maintained and you can tell that a lot of hard work went into it, from floor to ceiling. The hardwoods are gorgeous, the furniture is very tasteful, the bathrooms were beautiful and the gourmet kitchen was a joy to cook in.
We also loved the private paved bath down to the beach. We found great snorkeling there and some nice little pools to explore around the lava rocks. What made it even better was that both times we went to that beach, it was virtually empty.
Finally, John (the owner) was a delight to work with and has a wealth of information to share about Kauai. He was always prompt to answer all of our questions and even went out of his way to arrange a late check-out very last-minute. All in all, we have only positive things to say and we can't wait to come back. Mahalo!

We have stayed in Kauai a number of times and specifically in a condo. This was without question the most up-to-date place we have stayed in. In addition, John (the owner) was prompt and made sure our stay was as planned.
The view - Wow! The view was as pretty as you can see on Kauai. It sits on the bluff with views as far as the eye can see. The ocean on one side and beautiful Princeville golf course on the other side.

This place was spectacular! No one would be disappointed in renting here! John and his rental agent (Julie) are extremely nice and easy to work with. They were timely in their responses and extremely quick in getting my deposit back! They were by far the easiest people we worked with in making plans for our vacation.
4 adults staying in the Pali Ke Kua condo for 4 nights in January and we loved it. The place is SUPER clean and beautifully decorated. It's SO nice that everything is remodeled and brand new. I don't have one single complaint about how the condo was cleaned or upkept.
The ocean view was lovely out our back porch!! The sunrise was spectacular from our balcony each morning. While the place doesn't have a Bali Hai view that didn't bother us in the least...the view it does have is great and it is very easy to walk out to the grassy area near by and see the stunning views of Bali Hai.
We stayed in this condo for half our time in Kauai...the other half we staying in a condo on the south shore. I truly wish we had stayed in this condo for the whole week. The North Shore is SO much more stunning than the south, despite it's rain it is a nicer place to stay. And the condo probably more than surpassed the pictures online...which was really nice because often times places seem not to live up to expectations...this place surpasses them!
I HIGHLY recommend staying here when visiting Kauai.

I may have already written a review for this house, but this email reminder just asked me to do it again. I have to say this property is an amazing little place with a killer view. I took my girlfriend for Christmas and we loved it. I travel constantly for work and am not easy to impress, but this place is pretty sweet. newly remodeled, clean finish, and modern which you don't find often in Kauai rentals
Excellent location, unbeatable views

We spent almost a week at John and Brenda's beautiful Kauai home during the spring break. I have to say it is one of the best vacations we've had. The home is tastefully decorated with extreme comfort and convenience. The view in and out of the home is unbelievable. If you look for peace and beauty of the nature, this is the place. I highly recommend John and Brenda's home if you plan to visit the island.

Very Northern California
Beautiful place to stay

My partner and I stayed in Honu cove for 7 nights in February and loved every minute of it. Sigh. We came from the Northwest and forgot that even when it is windy and cloudy outside, it is still 70+ degrees! We watched tons of whale spout from the kitchen nook every morning; ate a morning meal of mango/papaya and a protein, and coffee and slipped into a day of golf or beach. It was wonderful- even with high surf and all. We swam with turtles at the beach you can walk to below the units and had a very restful time. The unit is clean, well appointed and excellently maintained. Great unit!
Awesome condo in an idyllic beach and island environment!

This remodeled condo was a delight all around. Our family (2 adults, 2 children) enjoyed our week-long stay in the Princeville area, and hope to be back again some day.
The condo itself has great furnishings, appliances and furniture. Very tastefully decorated, and yet also a very relaxed and cozy vibe to it. The views from the kitchen, eating area and balcony are spectacular, not to mention the great sunsets viewed from the nearby grass area (or just take a short stroll down the nearby road to get some different views of the coastline).
The unit has an electric grill which is very handy if you want to cook some of the fresh fish from the nearby market (in Hanalei). From the balcony you can watch for sea turtles in the cove below, or observe the many type of birds in the area.
There are of course many fun things to do in the area: snorkeling at sevaral nearby beaches -- including the private beach just below the condo units; botanical gardens; hiking (from Pe'e Beach area); stroll and shop in Hanalei, stopping to get a shave ice; etc etc. Even though Kauai is less populated and more laid back compared to other Hawaiian islands, we really enjoy the feel and didn't run out of things to enjoy and keep us occupied.
So if you are planning a stay in Kauai, definitely consider staying at this condo! It is definitely a mark above your typical rental unit!!!

My wife and I definitely enjoyed staying at Honu Cove for our honeymoon. The view was fantastic, the crashing waves rocked us to sleep every night, the look and feel of the condo was very pleasing. We cannot wait until our next trip out there, and we definitely will be going back!!
