We have stayed in many other units in this complex and were very happy...this time? Not so much. Unit wasn't clean...owner had left post-it notes everywhere telling us what we could and couldn't do. Most of the cupboards were filled with dishes and there was nowhere to put groceries. Of course the views were the best but inside was definitely lacking.
We are so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit. Alii Kai 4301 is a beautiful, well-cared-for condo, one of our most popular, and definitely the best view in Alii Kai. It's previous reviews have all been 5-star. We are surprised and unhappy to learn that the guest felt the unit was not clean. If we had been notified there was a problem, we would have been happy to rectify it at once. The post-it notes requested that guests close windows and shutters when they go out to avoid damage caused by rain and sun, and also to retract the screen door when not in use since people have walked through it. We have incorporated that information into our check-in instructions instead, to avoid the distraction of the post-its. There is plenty of cupboard space, things have just gotten moved around or put back incorrectly, we'll have the housekeeper reorganize again. We're confident future guests will agree with us that this is a premium 5-star property, and deeply regret that the post-its and disorganized cupboards prevented this guest from enjoying it.

We have stayed at alii Kai on a previous trip (3204)and were very impressed with that condo. But 4301 offered a few more ammenities that made our stay outstanding in just about every way. The view is incredible -- although it is at all these condos. 4301 seemed to offer a little more privacy in our estimation and the patio was equipped with both chairs and tables which made it nice for dining. The kitchen had everything you could think of for cooking and we did a fair amount of that, so were impressed that we found just about everything we needed. We thought it a little strange, however, that there were no salt and pepper shakers. No biggie, but strange because they had everything else! The refrigerator operated OK, but looked like it had seen better days. The shelving was very rickety. The only other negative was the wood trim around the sink which was water damaged and looked kind of nasty, but also, no biggy. The master bedroom was lovely; the bed comfortable. We didn't use the other room. The bathroom was not near as fancy as 3204 which had a lovely shower and dressing area. However, to our great surprise, 4301 had a huge closet stocked with everything one would need to enjoy a Hawaiian vacation from beach bags, towels, chairs, boards, umbrella, coolers, rain jackets -- you name it; they had it. The binoculars were a very nice perk too. These folks thought of everything to make our experience the best and we very much appreciated that. The place was clean and for the most part, well maintained. The best part: the view, the quiet, the privacy. The only obstacle were the stairs. I broke my ankle on a hike and ended up on crutches and a cast. This condo requires a lot of stair climbing, so not good for folks with disabilities. (no elevator). I am sure we will be back; at least, we hope so.

Alii Kai unit 4301 was great. We stayed for 3 weeks and like to refer to it as "living in Kauai" instead of vacation. This condo was very nice with everything we needed. I felt a little bad for the neighbors while doing laundry because the washer sounds like a plane landing when it's spinning! Had a few geckos visit, and some small flying cockroaches which really gives me the creeps. I doubt there is anywhere on the island where bugs can be avoided however. My favorite thing about this condo was all the beautiful viewpoints from the living room and the bedrooms and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. I already checked for next years vacation, but the unit is booked already! Thank you for letting us enjoy our 3 weeks of living in paradise.
