My husband and I rented this place for 6 nights and the Coconut Cottage for 5 nights for our elopement/honeymoon. The accommodation itself was perfect. It was very clean, had everything we needed to enjoy the time that we did spend there (we were mostly out on adventures our hosts led or adventures we created for ourselves) and we were greeted every morning by the Hawaiian sun, the both wild and domestic chickens, the hogs and the cutie cute goats! And on occasion, our host Dave would leave us some fresh eggs, when available! The Coconut Cottage was slightly larger and a perfect move/upgrade just before our wedding for space to get our ceremony duds and look on! We also had a bit of a package with a car rental and some wedding arrangements (photos, flowers, suggestions for ceremony location). It was a great deal and all the folks we worked with were super friendly and very accommodating.
I describe my husband and I as low maintenance people, we love adventure, expect to get dirty in order to have fun and if this sounds like you...this is the place!

Our stay at the bamboo cottage was a blast! Dave is a super cool guy and was really accommodating to our needs. Fresh fruit, veggies, and eggs were a bonus. The cottage was super clean and cozy and taking a shower under the stars was awesome! Dave took us on an incredible hike that we would never have been able to do without his help and truly was the highlight of our trip! Great place for families to stay, my boy loved checking out the animals on the farm and feeding the chickens - Also there is a gorgeous secluded beach not too far away that was pretty neat.We would definitely stay here again for our next trip to Kauai!

My husband and I stayed for a week in the Bamboo Cabin at $49/night. You can pay double that for a crappy hotel room in a busy touristy area, so this charming spot in a quieter area is a gem. The great value was what originally attracted us to stay here, but we are so glad we stayed for many other reasons! First, the host, Dave, is incredibly generous and makes you feel very welcome. He offers free activities for guests, eggs from the chickens, veggies from the garden, and even offered us some of his dinner when he was having some friends/family over! The room also had bug spray, sunscreen, and beach towels in it - things that most people don't include and that we really appreciated. (We brought our own beach towels and sunscreen but appreciated the bug spray since there are a lot of mosquitos on his property.) The place is even more charming than it looks in pictures. The Bamboo Cabin had tons of privacy which was important to us. The compost toilet was lovely to use (Dave takes care of emptying the bucket thank god lol) as was the outdoor shower. We loved the full size fridge, the blender, the view, petting the pigs and goats, and the Dvd's available too.
This was one of our favorite (if not our favorite) places to stay. We've stayed at a lot of lovely places, but at the end of it we always think, "It was lovely, but was it worth the huge price tag?" Here, you aren't left with a bad taste in your mouth after spending a month of income on four nights of accommodation. That is a rare find!
1. Be aware that there are creepy crawlies! We encountered a few spiders/bugs/geckos, which for us isn't a very big deal, but might be for some.
2. We had a really hard time finding the beach and think it's more like a 30 minute walk (but maybe we were going the wrong way). Make sure to get good directions and consider driving - there's a parking lot right near the beach and we found driving much easier.
3. Check out Moloa'a Fruit Stand just down the road!
