When staying at Puu Poa (Pu'u Po'a) you will discover the rare beauty and peaceful sanctuary of the North Shore on the Garden Island of Kauai. Puu Poa in Princeville, on a cliff overlooking an incredible vista of the Pacific Ocean, is where you can watch turtles and other sea life right from your lanai. Beautiful Hawaiian landscaping to complement its unparalleled views surrounds this contemporary condominium community. You will thoroughly enjoy watching dolphins, sailboats, cruise ships and surfers from the comfort of your vacation home. During the winter months some of the best whale watching is done from the Princeville and Kilauea areas. Viewing the majestic 4,000 foot-high Waialale Mountains with rainbows and waterfalls is magical on the mauka (mountain) side of the property.
Puu Poa is one of Princeville's most luxurious condo resorts in terms of unique architecture, spacious floor plans and an ideal location with maximum comfort and privacy. These 56 condos are situated on the ocean bluff next door to the beautiful five-star St. Regis Hotel that offers several outstanding dining options at one of their restaurants or visit their world-class spa.
Puu Poa has its own tennis courts, oceanfront swimming pool and hot tub, and the spectacular Hideaway's Beach is a short trail walk below, hidden away. Hideaway's Beach is one of Kauai's best summertime snorkeling spots.
Princeville is home to 45 holes of world-class golfing within minutes of Puu Poa and has miles of walking and biking paths. There is also easy access to Puu Poa Beach on Hanalei Bay, in front of the St. Regis Hotel. Horseback riding, zip lining and guided hikes are available at nearby Princeville Ranch and polo matches are held, in season, at Anini Beach.
Hike the world famous Na Pali Coast as well as many other fantastic trails on Kauai. Take a kayak out of Hanalei Bay to paddle with the dolphins and turtles or paddle board or kayak on the Hanalei River. Enjoy some of the very best snorkeling on the island at Ke'e Beach. Explore the dry and wet caves, Hanalei Beach Park, Limahuli Botanical Garden and the excellent snorkeling and swimming at Tunnels Beach. Spend the day at Hanalei Bay, a perfect spot for swimming, lying on the beach and taking in some sun, having a picnic and fishing off the pier! Enjoy the stunning views at Kilauea Lighthouse and Nature Preserve, a beacon for sea traffic since 1913. It's within a national wildlife refuge where thousands of seabirds soar on the tradewinds and nest on the steep ocean cliffs. See endangered Nene geese, white- and red-tailed tropicbirds, and more.
Narrow Limahuli Valley, with its fluted mountain peaks and ancient stone taro terraces, creates an unparalleled setting for this botanical garden and nature preserve. Dedicated to protecting native plants and unusual varieties of taro, it represents the principles of conservation and stewardship held by its founder, Charles "Chipper" Wichman. Limahuli's primordial beauty and strong mana (spiritual power) eclipse the extensive botanical collection. It's one of the most gorgeous spots on Kauai and the crown jewel of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, which Wichman now heads.

My husband and I and another couple stayed in Pua Poa #105 for 10 days. Our first trip to Kuaui and so glad we stayed on the North part of this incredible island! I was searching for an oceanfront accommodation and this turned out to be a great choice. The interior was very upscale, super clean, quiet, comfortable, 2 sitting areas, and nice little touch of shopping bag with starter supplies. (FYI..flight of stairs to ground floor condo and since I came hobbling with a broken foot I was well aware of these!). So nice to have views of the ocean and all the changing clouds formations right from the condo and grassy area on the cliff. The beach wasn't very accessible though as it wad a very steep climb down. But we did walk next door to the St Regis hotel and walked along the beach there. Great that it was just a 5 minute drive into the sweet town of Hanalei and all the amazing beaches to the north and Kileua to the south. We enjoyed a dinning at the St Regis, excellent meal at The Postcard cafe in Hanelei, and Common Ground restaurant on the organic farm to the south. Fun to stop at all the fruit stands for a fresh coconut and local fruits...Farmer's Market was fabulous on Saturday in Hanalei.

From the beginning of the reservation process all the way through to the end of holiday, Great Vacation Rentals was a pleasure to deal with. They helped with every question and went out of their way to ensure we had the best stay. They booked our rental car for us at much better prices than we were quoted ourselves from the car rental companies, and they offered to book us a helicopter tour. They always responded promptly and helpfully. They also left us a wonderful gift basket in the condo - I am still using the delicious lotion even now that Hawaii is long gone! And they included everything we could possibly want and need for our stay - laundry detergent, household items, etc. The condo itself was massive for 4 people and in great condition. Loved the decor and the modernness of it, and it was full of comfortable and stylish couches for lounging. We made ample use of the BBQ. Also, it was wonderful living next door to the St. Regis Princeville as we went there every single day for the beach, cocktails, lunch/dinner, etc.

I would have given this an excellent on all accounts except for 3 things. Because of the humidity the fans always had to be on and there was a slight damp odor, and the outdoor barbeque should have been pitched. It was rusty and didn't work. The last thing was having to carry our 2 50 Lb. suitcases, 2 carry ons and 2 sets of golf clubs and numerous bags of groceries down 2 levels of stairs and then back up at the end of the trip. As seniors you might say we were a tad challenged, especially after a long day and trip at arrival. It would have been nice to have had the number of a person we could have called on to help with the heavy lifting as there was no elevator.
Otherwise, it was a terrific spot, right on the Pacific. The view was breathtaking when we first walked through the front door. Great view for whale watching, too plus peaceful and restful. The 2 bedroom 2 bath unit was lovely and complete located right next to the St. Regis Hotel, which is a must go-see excursion. There's a pool and tennis courts on the property we didn't use but they looked inviting if we had. Instead, we enjoyed the golf courses nearby.
The service in booking our unit was truly excellent and helpful with my questions at every turn. A joy to work with.

Lou was wonderful and helped us out the minute our plane arrived in Kaui. We were picked up at the airport and given directions on where to shop and what to see on the island. Once we arrived at Pp105 we could not believe how lucky we were to have such a beautiful condo. It was clean and stocked with everything we needed for the beach. The path down to the beach was a big undertaking but once you made it down you were not going back up to soon. Of course once on the beach you would not want to leave. I loved the snorkeling right off the beach. The beach is very private and peaceful.
If I had to say anything bad it would be the patio or lack of it. There were only pastic chairs to sit on to enjoy the ocean view.
We were both very sad when we had to leave the condo. I plan on coming back to stay at this condo again soon.

Beautiful spacious condo, with stunning views. Don't be put off by the plastic chairs on the patio. The location is beautiful. The hike to hideaways beach is a little treacherous, so if you want to play it safe or have small kids, head over to St Regis to go to the beach. There are stairs.

We stayed at Puu Poa 105 in late april 2011. Our family has vacationed on Kauai many times over the last twenty years. We have stayed at many different condos on Kauai. Puu Pao 105 is hands down the nicest condo we have ever stayed at in Kauai and Hawaii in general. The condo and the complex is beautiful. The condo is spacious, very clean, and extremely nicely decorated. We really felt at home. This place has it all. We really liked the ground floor location. It has great ocean views(We saw a lot of whales), great yard and pool area right out the sliding door and a super location. During our stay we enjoyed walks/hikes. Hideaways beach was right in our back yard and has some of the best snorkeling in Kauai. Also, the beautiful Saint Regis Hotel is a few hundred yards away and has amazing views and is a nice place for brunch, dinner and drinks. We loved this condo and we had a great time! We wish we had found this condo sooner. We defiantly will be back! Read more

What a beautiful and tastefully decorated condo, spacious and overall perfect for either a honeymooning couple (us) or a family vacation. It had everything we could want. The ground floor location was really nice for our strolls on to the lawn to sit bluff side to catch both sunrises and sunsets and Hideaways Beach below. It was fun, active, relaxing, and romantic. The condo and location were perfect for us. We loved it!

We enjoyed our stay. Thank you GVR for making sure I had adequate fans for comfort. Your service was terrific and you followed through on my request. The unit was comfortable and had a great view. It was perfect for accessing the pool. The area was great and we plan to return. I will also recommend Puu Poa and your team to our friends.

Our stay at unit 105 was very nice. It was furnished very tastefully. There was more room than we needed, but it was nice to be able to have the space. A great value for the money. Our only misgiving was that in the livingroom areas (there are two) consisting of the main section as well as a separate sitting area on the right as you enter, there was little or no overhead lighting especially in the sitting room, where there was no overhead fan. September was a very hot month and we could have used some air flow, as there were no sea breezes. We only had small floor lamps with rather dim bulbs to read by. Secondly the sliding screens in the sitting room would not stay in the track and allowed a very large centipede to get in. Got rid of it without knowing how painfull their sting can be. But overall, this community is one of the best values for a stay on this absolutely beautiful island. Read more
Aloha and thank you for writing a review!
We will see if we can get a little bit more lighting in there. It has never been brought to our attention before so we appreciate your letting us know.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

We were very impressed with the quality and location of Puu Poa 105. The interior of the condo is beautiful and very spacious. The only drawback is the lack of a usable lanai - it's very small. However, we did enjoy walking out onto the grass at sunset.

We have visited the North Shore of Kauai every couple of years for the past 14 years. In our visits we have stayed in different condos, the Princeville Resort, Hanalai Bay Resort, and even a friend's home in Hanalai. Pu'u Poa105 was certainly one of the best places we have stayed. We felt very comfortable including my 3 year old daughter. We got the combination of luxury, comfort and location.
Amy was very helpful and responsive when making arrangements.
The only comment I would make to improve was the pool wasn't too fun for children, but we spent most of our time at the beautiful beaches. Read more

Puu Poa #105 was a beautiful room. Everything remodeled with high quality materials and furniture. My two girls felt at home. The location was great. However, not on the beach (but there are few, if any places to stay on the beach in Princeville area). Many beaches are within walking distance or a short drive. The property is small and private. Nice pool, but nothing fancy. This is a good place to stay if you want privacy and relaxation. Read more

What a great place to stay. The unit was very well equipped and we really appreciated the snorkel equipment. The place was immaculate when we arrived and it met all our expectations. The only downside of this unit is that it does not have a big patio area like the upper floors. So if you want to relax in the sun you really have to go to the pool area to get a nice comfortable chair. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!
