Casa Kauai is located on an extremely private bluff property with spectacular views of the ocean, framed between classic tropical foliage. Only a beautiful greenbelt separates the house from the ocean. Unobstructed head-on views of the ocean. Whale watching is glorious.
Large and well built, this (Robert Easton designed) tri-level home has five bedrooms and four bathrooms, an office (with amazing ocean view) plus a studio apartment. The house has exterior redwood siding and stained (weathered) cedar interior finishes. Enjoy the luxurious lifestyle of daily saunas and dips in the hot tub, while surrounded by a beautifully landscaped garden. There are two decks and a lanai. Watch spectacular sunsets over the ocean from your living room or decks. Mornings are gorgeous here, but the summer sunsets are truly awesome.
This house is about three minutes away from the beautiful Princeville Hotel, where fine dining and beach access are available to the public. Situated in the lush north shore of Kauai, the house is an easy drive to many gorgeous north shore beaches, great for kids, romantic swimming and picnics, and a range of water sports including snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, kayaking, shelling, etc.
Tennis courts and golf are about two minutes away. The luxurious Princeville Spa is about five minutes away.
Stores and food shopping are no more than five minutes away.
The house is owned and used as a retreat by the non-profit Los Angeles-based Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law. Proceeds from rentals help with the human rights work of the organization.
The main floor, which includes a bedroom, two bathrooms, kitchen, living room, and dining room is accessible using portable ramps that are maintained at the house. The house has a driveway that is accessible for a van. One ramp is used to drop down two steps to get from the grade (parking) level to the house's main floor level. A second indoor ramp is used to move from the dining area into the living room area.

“Awesome house, incredible views, everything we expected”
Left on 01/14/2015 for a stay in November 2014 | John GReviewed Jan 14, 2015Stayed Nov 2014
We read a negative review on TripAvisor so went to VRBO and HomeAway reviews and they were great. The house was in immaculate shape when we arrived and was spacious. The house is beautiful, spacious and well equipped. We had 8 people there and more than enough room. Neighborhood is very quiet. The house is on a cul-de-sac so no sounds of passing cars. Very private. Nice hot tub with views of the ocean for relaxing after a long day at the beach. From living room, dining room, kitchen and decks you're looking down at a green belt and beyond that the ocean. All appliances worked perfectly. Absolutely no mold issues a reviewer discussed a year or so ago. House was very clean when we arrived. Ample towels and linens. Beach towels and snorkeling equipment were provided for use of guests.
The patio area was a great area for us to gather in the evenings, cook up some food and just enjoy the company, the ocean view, and the sound of waves crashing below the bluff. Interior of house is cedar wood so it has a "beach house" feel. Golf course and tennis courts are a five minute drive from the house. Food market also just five minutes away. A short block away a trail starts down the bluff to a very secluded beach. Easy drive heading west or east along the highway to all the best beaches on the North Shore.
This home is owned by a non-profit organization that does human rights work and we learned through discussions with the group that it regularly donates the home to other non-profit organizations for seminars, retreats, and for their fund-raising events. When you stay at this home you are supporting the work of the owner, the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, and the many non-profit groups that get to use the home.
In summary, we enjoyed being in a home that felt, truly, like our home for a week. We will have so many wonderful memories that will last us for the rest of our lives.
