As a place to relax, Ptarmigan Lodge has a spacious open plan living space. The main living area is warmed by a solid fuel fire, and the glass frontage offers superb views of the river and forest beyond. The kitchen is large and spacious and equipped with every modern comfort. There are four bedrooms which together with an additional sofa bed in the ‘snug’, provide sleeping accommodation for up to 10 guests.

The master bedroom has en-suite facilities with the others served by a large bathroom/showerroom.

Nestling on the banks of River Nethy, Ptarmigan Lodge enjoys a superb location in Nethy Bridge - the 'forest village'. The lodge has been designed in the style of a North American ski lodge and enjoys relaxing views across the river to the ancient Abernethy Forests.

The nearby Cairngorms are home to the elusive Ptarmigan, a rare mountain dwelling bird, after which

the lodge is named. The outside Hot Tub allows you to relax and soak in the peace and quiet of the forest and listen to the river.

“Beautiful spacious holiday home”

We had a lovely week in this lodge with our adult family. Great location for walks, low and high, as well as water sports on loch Morlich where we took our own canoe and paddleboard. The Hot Tub was such a great treat for relaxing after a long mountain climbing day. The big family kitchen, diner, lounge was great for relaxing and being together.

When I heard that the builders had come to see you during your stay, I was appalled, especially when the owner had been in touch with the contractors prior to your stay and asked them not to disturb any guests. Hopefully this has been resolved now. Sadly, it looks like there was some miscommunication as the maintenance man did turn up to look at the issues that you raised, however the person that greeted him said that they weren't happy about him completing the work and they would make-do for the week. I have passed the comments onto the owner for consideration.

Lovely lodge, it had everything we needed. The decor is getting a bit tired and some small things not working properly but it didn’t spoil our weekend. The beds were really comfortable and clean.

There were 9 of us, 2 kids, one baby, 6 adults and a dog and we all had a great 4 night stay. The lodge is so roomy, plenty space for everyone to spread out, kids spent quiet time in the snug, but good open plan living, dining/kitchen so we could eat, play games or relax together. There is almost everything you could need supplied including robes for the hot tub. Kitchen was very well equipped, just missing some trays for the oven and basics like salt and pepper. The utility areas were great for storing ski stuff. It was super cosy so we only lit the fire once. The hot tub was a winner with us all, the garden was so peaceful. There were easy walks from the door with the dog and easy access to forest and river. the village was lovely, Spar shop with post office and hotel with ok food and good bar area. The hot water seemed to run out very quickly, but that was the only downside, we will def return!!
