Casa Jessica is a modern townhouse with a large communal pool, air-conditioning, heating, free wifi internet, and, and guests pay for the electricity consumed during their stay at a fair price.The house is conveniently located on the edge of Villanueva De La Concepcion, and is 35 minutes from Malaga Airport. The house is 125m2. It sleeps 6, and has three bedrooms. The house overlooks open ground at the front. It is on a small urbanisation, which features a 11m x 5m swimming pool, sited in the community area for the exclusive use of the twelve houses surrounding this area. Of the twelve Casa Jessica is the only holiday rental property: consequently the pool has light use.There is a private parking space for 2 cars at the front of the house. Downstairs there is a living room with a dining area, a fitted kitchen, a toilet and wash basin, and a utility room. Outside there is a 40m2 patio with outdoor furniture, and a retractable sunshade; the patio overlooks the community area. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, the main one with an ensuite bathroom, and there is a family bathroom. Our guests, who have stayed in the Autumn, Winter, and Spring, spend time on the terrace in mild, sunny weather; they appreciate being within five minutes on foot from shops and restaurants in a lovely, friendly village; they use Casa Jessica as a convenient base to visit the many cultural attractions etc. of Andalucia, such as Alhambra Palace and the Mezquita. The village of Villanueva De La Concepción is a lovely, friendly, safe place where guests may enjoy the lively, festive traditions of a typically vibrant Andalucian village. Within short walking distances there are traditional bars, restaurants, supermarkets, and shops. El Torcal National Park, with its unique natural limestone sculptures and various walking routes, lies above Villanueva and is 20 minutes away by car. Beyond El Torcal the beautiful historic town of Antequera with its many ancient churches, distinctive architecture and prehistoric caves is a 25 minute car journey from Villanueva. El Chorro Gorge, Cordoba, the White Towns, Seville, Granada and Gibraltar are day trips by car. Malaga and Malaga Airport are approximately 45 minutes by car and the drive to Costa Del Sol resorts takes about one hour. Here are just a few of the places and activities, which guests staying at Casa Jessica have enjoyed. These are the shortest excursions from Villanueva De La Concepcion, and do not get much of a mention in the two best standard guide books, Rough Guide To Andalucia & The Lonely Planet: Andalucia, which the owner will loan to you to help you to decide where to go and what to do:-El Torcal (15 minutes away by car): amazing natural limestone sculptures, viewpoint, two well signposted circular walks, visitors' centre, bar/restaurant.Antequera: (25 mnutes by car) castle, many old churches, atmospheric cobbled streets, the safest town in Andalucia. Have a drink in El Mirador bar, situated on the road from Villanueva to Antequera, and sit on their back terrace and view the town. Then drive down through the old part, park (not usually so difficult), and wander about soaking in the atmosphere.Malaga: (45 minutes by car) tapas bars (El Pimpli and many more) in the old part around the cathedral, a choice of restaurants, Picasso museum, a lovely cinema showing latest films in English for 5 Euros admission, the Alcazabar, shopping. Park in one of the many underground carparks, then enjoy exploring the city centre. El Palo & Pedregalego: fishing villages, just to the East of Malaga:the seaside which is not so much frequented by British and other foreign tourists; many pleasant bars and fish restaurants along a traditional sea front, including the famous El Tintero plate restaurant at the East end of El Palo.The near deserted undeveloped, unspoilt beach to the East of Torremolinos: wonderful good value chiringuitos (beach cafes on the beach) serving fresh fish and other good simple food; frequented by nude bathers.Torremolinos: some very good, reasonably priced restaurants and two great cake shops on Calle San Miguel, and the beach is good. Try also the Carihuela to the West of the town.Ski: Sierra Nevada resort is about 90 minutes away by car.Villanueva De La Concepción. An expat's view:- “Why Villanueva De La Concepción? I've stepped back in time to when dad was a lad:- I can't smell the Hovis baking, but I think I know nearly everyone. I can park almost anywhere I like, and leave it unlocked… A good friend hasn't locked his front door for the last 10 years, and now can't find his key… I went in a shop once, and Nicolas, the owner, chased me up the street, as I'd left the Serrano ham on the counter. I have owed the man in the Moto shop 10 Euros since last year… Visitors keep coming back to check us out. My daughter-in-law, and several others, keep in touch with what's going on in “Concepcion” through Face Book. Tom, the owner of Xebar, our “English bar”, keeps them regularly informed… Last week we had our feria: it started with rock night and free beer in the bottom square. I got caught up in a parade: children wearing satirical papier-mache heads: I recognised the mayor among other local celebrities. Friday night saw the local flamenco classes performing, followed by an exceptional performance by a professional troupe. Earlier in the day the Ruta De Tapas: 13 bars and 13 tapas… As a student in the 60's we did the King Street Run, which was a pint in all 8 pubs, and a commemorative tie for those who completed the Run… By six o'clock the streets filled with groups of cheerful inebriates, many in fancy dress: the reward nowadays is a commemorative Tee shirt… There were two bull fights: the real and the silly: the latter when our local frustrated toreadors dress up and “fight” little bulls; other local heroes rush into the arena, as stretcher bearers, or as priests to deliver the last rites… In the winter our mayor laid on rock bands, live music, in our bars… What else? There are several great places to eat and drink, including Rincon De La Villa and Bar Torfa. Our local mountain, El Torcal, is from another planet with its limestone sculptures. Antequera, our nearest big town, the safest place in Andalucia, is a heritage centre, that hosts a free Blues Festival in July: late night atmospheric blues music high above the town in Plaza Santa Maria. Our nearest city, Malaga, has it all: the Picasso Museum, excellent restaurants, tapas bars, fishing villages. The listed prices are for two persons staying at the house; please ask for the price for more than two persons.

Getting around

Most guests arrive at Malaga Airport, and opt to hire a car to get around. There is a bus service into Malaga and into Antequera from the village, should guests prefer not to drive. Also Barry Cook will take you on excursions, as well as providing transfers from/to the airport

I meet guests at a pre-arranged location, from where they follow me by car to the property, where I conduct a tour, and hand over the keys. Either I, or my representative, can be contacted during their stay. Either guests look at the available information held at the property, or they can ask my advice, if they require information, or have concerns

Response from the owner I do not accept that "You don't speak then" is a rude comment to make to two children sitting on a sofa watching a cartoon on tv, who do not reply, when spoken to. Elle said that she did not know where the missing remote controls were, not that they were in the wardrobes. My wife made a polite request, "Please can you tell me where the remote controls are?" These items were not easy to find. My wife resents the insult about her lack of intelligence.
