“Amazing in every way”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2011

Cedric and Dawn ensured that we had the perfect anniversay weekend ever. The cottage was lovely, it felt like staying in your very own luxurious home away from home. The sheets, the kitchen, the little attention to details was wonderful. There are lots of lovely treks, walks and hikes in the gorgeous countryside nearby. And the very best part was their company and the absolutely superb meal that Cedric and Dawn cooked for us. The food was the hidden gem of our trip - its a gastronomic wonder that is worth visiting!

“What a wonderful weekend”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2011

My partner and I recently invited a group of friends to Holling Grange to celebrate his 50th birthday. Cedric and Dawn were the perfect hosts and literally went the extra mile to ensure guests could get through the snow to the party. Their attention to detail and tireless efforts ensure the weekend was a great success. Everyone loved the style of the accommodation and the fact that each cottage was equipped with everything we needed and more. The icing on the cake was the superb culinary experience Cedric and Dawn put together for dinner each evening.

“Beautiful location, fantastic food, good company.”

Having stayed with Dawn and Cedric in France we knew that Holling Grange would be a wonderful place. We were not disappointed, the cottage (bleu-gris) was nicely decorated and well equipped as well as being spotlessly clean. There were thoughtful touches such as delicious local bread and cider left as a welcome pack and then there was the food. We were on a New Year's gastronomic break so there was a meal every night as well as one lunch and it was amazing. Cedric's cooking is absolutely superb although it would be wrong to give him all the credit - Dawn is also an accomplished chef in her own right. We are difficult customers since we are both vegetarian but every meal was thoughtfully produced and Cedric treated it as a challenge rather than an inconvenience. As Cedric and Dawn also eat with you, it is much more like being at a friend's house (albeit one who cooks high-end restaurant food!) than being in a hotel, which just adds to the ambience. I couldn't fault a thing. Highly recommended.

“Relaxing wekend in a delightful seting.”

Great position; great hosts; great cottage and wonderful food cooked by Cedric. All round top place!

“A quiet interlude; lovely setting; pleasant, unobtrusive hosts”

This restful experience, in a beautiful setting, will not easily be forgotten. Fun walks among sheep and ducks, trips to such places as Tintern abbey, Hay-on-Wye, Hereford and all the charming villages between, combined with a warm welcome from hosts Cedric and Dawn and a visit to their restaurant, contributed to a therapeutic break from busy lives.

“Santa Visited”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2011

We stayed over Xmas when the snow was in full flurry, and from the start our very personable host met us, guided us in on tricky, icy lanes, and continued to treat us with surprises galore. Even if it weren't for that, everything would have been marvellous: a charming spot with great accommodation to match our charming, accommodating hosts.

“"Don't cancel because of ice!!"”

We had a magnificent stay in spite of fears of impending terrible cold weather and snow warnings. There was something magical about Holling Grange in the misty freezing weather and the welcome we got from Cedric and Dawn soon dispelled any worries about our weekend. We had a magnificent meal cooked by Cedric and although we were only 'weekending', it felt like we had known them for ever. I love the styling of the cottages and the arty touches which make for a memorable stay, our only regret was not being able to see more of the beautiful surrounding countryside as it was all covered in snow! - good enough reason to go back. We wish Cedric and Dawn all the very best in their business, they truly have something unique and precious, thankyou for our special time with you.

Response from the owner Bonjour Julie, Thank you so much for all your kind words!!!! It was really nice having you both and the condition probably helped Dave to relax....it was fun to see him in a very nice way. Kindest wishes to you both Cédric et Dawn

Great location and superb food and evening meal concept. Cosy 'cottage' set up. All made perfect by the company and the weather. A great weekend

“A relaxing week”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2010

Holling Grange is situated in a fantastic spot in the Golden Valley - very quite with great views. It was our first time in this area of the country and I don't think we could have picked a better place to stay. The accommodation is stylishly decorated to a high standard and is well maintained and very clean. The furnishings are very comfortable and everything you'd expect is included in the accommodation. Cedric and Dawn are very friendly hosts and are happy to provide assistance with anything you may need. I recommend eating with them at least once during your stay as they are great hosts and Cedric's cooking is magnificent.. Overall we had a fantastic week made all the more enjoyable by Cedric and Dawn's hospitality. We're looking forward to planning our next visit.

“Charming accommodation with gourmet food.”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2010

A peaceful location in rural Herefordshire, spotless charming antique fully renovated stone farmhouse accommodations with old wooden beams and stylishly appropriate yet completely modern designer kitchens and bathrooms. Impeccably decorated - I would call it simple, sophisticated luxury, with a touch of the romantic, not frilly and silly. Perfect in my mind. But the jewels on this crown are the personal, charming hosts, (Cedric and Dawn - French husband & English wife) and the optional 5 course gourmet dinners by Cedric, served in their equally wonderful renovated home adjacent to the self catering buildings. Like being invited to home of a top French chef. Intimate and relaxed. This is not roughing it in farm country, despite the peaceful presence of cows and sheep wandering by. Amazing views and charming backroads to explore all around. A perfect getaway treat for the sophisticated traveller. Am I gushing? Trust me, so will you...

Response from the owner Merci merci merci merci......MERCI BEAUCOUP !!!!!!!!!!! Cédric et Dawn
