Description from owner

Description

Superbly located actually in Kalkan Old Town, not up the hill side, Kulenin Evi is a detached, air conditioned, four bedroom, four bathroom villa about 200 yards from the beach and even less from the centre of the main street. The 32 sq. m. private pool and adjacent jacuzzi are set in the unusually large private garden with 5 terraces to choose from, the shaded garden terrace provides the perfect setting for lunch while you can enjoy the sun on the pool terrace, take advantage of the shade on the vine terrace, relax under the shade sail on the rear terrace, or play table tennis on the back terrace, all surrounded by bourganvillea, hibiscus and many other exotic plants. In the evening you can retire to the roof terrace, enjoy a BBQ or just relax with a drink and admire the view. However, even more special is the fact that the shops and restaurants of Kalkan Old Town are only a couple of minutes' walk away.

“Absolutely flawless”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2015

Had a seven of us stay here, all aged 21-26 (3 guys, 4 girls). We were a bit worried if Kalkan would cater to a younger group as most reviews of places came from people older than us. Before I get into that - Kalkan seems like it caters very well for families and older people - But being none of those, I can't really comment. The whole town seemed safe, friendly and not pushy. We have to say that it catered for us perfectly. On the villa itself, we could not have been happier. THE PHOTOS DO NOT DO THIS VILLA JUSTICE. It is beautiful, the gardens are wonderful, as are all the little eating areas, especially the rooftop terrace where we spent a lot of time in the evenings. The poolside area gets plenty of sun for sunbathing, and the pool is brilliant...although a little deep for some of the shorter girls to play volleyball well. All the rooms are of a good size and have their own bathrooms (two double beds, and four twin beds). The kitchen appliances, fridge/freezer, oven, grill etc... all work fine and are in good condition. I cannot think about one thing I would change in the villa, it's perfect. The location is great - Having being there in the heat, and walked on the hills, I am SO HAPPY we didn't get a villa further up the hill. The walk or taxis would have killed us - This left us so close to the town, but you aren't close enough that you get any noise from it or anything. Wendy and John let us stay in the villa on the day of departure as no-one was booked in (I have no idea how no-one was booked in). The information they provided before arrival/the arrangement of transfers was brilliant. (I would recommend using the company they suggest, Abi Travel - They are very good) ============================================ TOP TIPS FOR TWENTY-SOMETHINGS (or anyone for that matter) ============================================ - NIGHTLIFE: There aren't any proper nightclubs, although we found Club Chocolate to have the better atmosphere and active dancefloor. Karma and Mojitos are also good for drinks. Kalkan is a perfect place to go if you still want to be able to go out on a night time without going somewhere with 'a strip'. Don't know too much about bars as we usually drank on the rooftop terrace first but there seems to be plenty of good ones, all with similar pricing. - PRICES: The vast majority of restaurants/tour operators are very similarly priced, so just go for the nice places. It's not expensive, although it is a bit more expensive than other areas in Turkey, but worth it. - BEER & WINE: There are 2 supermarkets near by, with similar pricing. Chepeast bottle of wine is about 10 TL (£2.50), but relatively expensive in restaurants (50-60 TL). Crates of beer aren't really a thing, but we found you could get a 1L bottle of beer for 7.50 TL, and a 500ml bottle of beer in a restaurant is 10-12TL. - LATE NIGHT FOOD: Hungry after a night of dancing? There's a van near the taxi rank which sells either meatballs, chicken, or cheese & tomato toasted sandwiches for 10TL - They are very nice, especially considering your options are limited. - APPLE TV: You can play your phone on the TV via AirPlay - We used this to play videos from YouTube for drunken karaoke - VOLLEYBALL: Want a cheap volleyball net in the middle of the pool? Buy a washing line from the supermarket and tie across the pool bars to the trees. - MOSQUTIOS: The girls got a few bites on their ankles. Take some spray. - ROOFTOP TERRACE - Perfect for post dinner, pre-nightclub drinking, or making yourself some BBQ. That's about all I can think of - I guarantee if you go here you will not regret it even a little bit. Thanks so much to Wendy and John - I hope to come back one day.

“A week in paradise”

Reviewed 2 Nov 2014

We were lucky enough to stay at Kulenin Evi and spend a week in Kalkan earlier this year. Thanks to Wendy's great help in planning our trip, we already had an idea of what we wanted to see and do during our trip, but both Kalkan and the villa by far exceeded expectations. The journey from the airport (arranged by the owners through their local agents) was seamless and, as the beautiful Kalkan bay came into sight a few miles out from the town, I knew we had made a good choice - I thought the sea was only that colour on postcards! The villa is fantastically well equipped and feels just like a home from home, I've never stayed at a holiday rental quite like it. Fortunately my fiancee researches our holidays in detail before we go and I was relieved that she did - Kulenin Evi is actually near the beach and the restaurants, unlike a lot of villas in Kalkan, which seem to tell you they are only a few metres from the old town, but omit to mention that that it's a few metres up a steep hill (and so to actually get in and out of some of those villas, it ends up being quite a trek). Not so with Kulenin Evi, where you can step out the peaceful, secluded little cul-de-sac where the villa is located and reach the beautiful sea front in a matter of minutes. Kalkan itself is like a Tardis - on our first night I thought it was quite small, but we seemed to find a new street and new restaurants every night. The food was great and the locals very friendly and welcoming...not to mention the weather which was glorious. We hope to go back again next year and if we do, we will be sure to try and book Kulenin Evi as I can't wait to soak up sun by the pool again and enjoy some more sun-downers on their roof terrace looking out over the bay.

“A beautiful villa in a perfect location”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2014

We were in a party of eight, two families with four teenagers. Kulenin Evi was perfect for us, very spacious, great facilities and we loved the top floor roof terrace with BBQ and dining area. The garden was impressive, lots of room around the pool which was a good size with the added bonus of the jacuzzi!! The cleanliness was exceptional and the villa was cleaned, beds changed etc twice during our stay. We found the quiet location perfect and we were able to walk down into Kalkan along the beautiful cobbled streets in five minutes, so we did not require a hire car. Overall,an exceptional villa, in the perfect location, in the magical place called Kalkan!!
