Description

Our Victorian cottage has been decorated and furnished to a high standard in a sympathetic style in keeping with its period. It's upside down layout maximises the living space and town and ocean view - probably one of the best sea views on the island!

The cottage front door opens onto the 1st floor, an entrance hall with cloak room WC, through to a fully equipt kitchen with dining table & four chairs, oven, hob, extractor hood, microwave, toaster, kettle, larder fridge, freezer, washing machine, iron & ironing board. The lounge with widescreen LCD TV, FreeSat, DVD player & games console. Two large comfortable two seater sofas, chandelier, gilt mirror over mantle, coffee table & lamps, a selection of books & board games. French doors lead onto the raised balcony with a bistro set to enjoy the panoramic sea views.

Downstairs the gound floor of the cottage comfortably sleeps 4 people in two bedrooms, the master double bedroom has magnificent sea views there is also a twin bedroom and family bathroom with WC, wash basin and bath with shower over. The back door has access to our private south facing garden with large decking area for sunbathing and boat spotting, patio furniture & parasol available. So relax and enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine while soaking up the warm sun looking out to sea watching the boats and the world sail by. (Views can be enjoyed from the sofa or sitting up in the master bed!)

Parking is along Ocean View Road & Zigzag Road and is unrestricted.

Our change over day is Saturday but in low season we may be able to alter the day if it suits you better - just ask!

Bed linen, towels, bath mat and tea towels are currently NOT provided due to current health and safety guidelines (Covid-19), please also remember to bring you own beach towels.

One double and two single duvets and pillows will be available should you wish to use them but please remember to bring your own duvet covers, sheets and pillowcases. The mattress protectors for all beds will be changed in between guests stays.

High chair booster seat and cot bed/play pen available but please bring your own cot bedding.

We do not live on the island ourselves but do have a housekeeping lady who lives close by should you need any assistance during your stay and of course we are always at the end of the phone should you wish to discuss anything.

“Very clean cottage with great views.”

Lovely balcony from living room and decking downstairs were great for sitting out on an evening. Well equipped, everything you could need for staying away from home.The walk back up to the cottage from the beach or town is extremely steep and parking was a nightmare. We received a stroppy note on the windscreen further up the hill which was the only other place to park. However if you don't mind hills it's a lovely place to stay.We also had lizards sunning on the decking, that was great.The Spyglass Inn at the end of the esplanade is a fantastic lace to eat with lots of tables outside on the veranda.

“Very good”

We loved the view from both the lounge and master bedroom, the decking area was a real bonus. The downside of such a view is the steep walk back up to the cottage from the town, after a coastal path walk, the climb back to cottage felt somewhat daunting. Cathy is a lovely host, very friendly contact before our stay and a welcoming bottle of wine on arrival. The cottage has all that is needed for a comfortable stay and very detailed instructions for heating/hot water etc which was very welcomed. Be aware that the steps down to the bedrooms and bathroom are quite steep and fairly narrow, take care carrying cases or children. Car parking can be a bit of a challenge, however we always managed to find a spot on the roadside although mostly a few hundred yards from the cottage, no major problem and for loading/unloading we simply parked immediately opposite just outside of the parking zone with hazards on for a few minutes.. The cottage is old but has been tastefully updated where possible, due to its age and layout there is a limit to what can be changed, however we were very comfortable there and found it to be a great base for our holiday on the island.

“Restful”

How do damage deposits work?
