Description
Waterslacks Camping Barn is a traditional stone field barn that has been thoughtfully converted into basic accommodation. It has a secluded location on the edge of the steep-sided Manifold Valley and enjoys stunning views of the surrounding hills. It is a great experience for those who enjoy getting back to nature, or don't mind roughing it.
The main area inside the barn has three wooden sleeping platforms. two of the platforms can be curtained off for privacy. There are also two pub tables and stools with a darts board. All guests must bring their own camping mattress, sleeping bag and pillow.
The kitchen/dining area has picnic benches, storage units, a sink, fridge, kettle, toaster and slabs for cooking (guests supply their own camp stove and cooking equipment etc). There is a wash basin and WC within the barn, and an electric shower.
There is no central heating in the barn. The heating comes from blow heaters or infra-red heaters. In the sleeping area there are two blow heaters and two infra-red heaters. In the kitchen there is a infra-red heater and blow heater. In the shower room there is a towel radiator. For hot water there is a water heater and this supplies hot water to the Wash basin and kitchen sink, only turn this on when needed. All electricity is supplied through a meter (standard rate) that requires a £1 coin. Please bring warm clothing when conditions are cold.
Outside there is off-road parking for around ten cars. A grassed terrace to the front of the barn has an area where campfires are permitted , please bring your own wood for this (do not go into the surrounding fields to collect wood as this is private property).
We do allow additional guests with prior arrangement and this is at cost.
Any extra guests over the 15 in the barn can use the front of the barn area to pitch tents this is at cost, to be paid before arrival or book places in our smaller barn, Wills Barn which sleeps six and is classed as a bunk barn with bedding supplied at this barn. It is situated on the same lane and is approximately 1/4 mile away.
If extra guests over the 15 in the barn are wishing to stay camping at the barn we need to be informed of this at time of booking. If barn owner is not informed of extra guests they may be asked to leave on arrival.
On departure from the barn all rubbish should be placed in the orange container in the parking area. Please do not leave any broken camping equipment for us to dispose of, this will be charged through the damage deposit of £30 to dispose of.
