Description

New high-standard loghouse in traditional Norwegian style built by local craftsmen, with all modern facilities. Located on a former small farm (only animals - a few friendly lambs for the children). Two floors (each 70 m2). Located in Tresfjord, Vestnes, on a low hill just above the shore of the fjord. Great view. Each floor contains a separate complete apartment, can be used separately e.g. by two families vacationing together, or combined (internal stairs; always only one party at a time in the house). Private boathouse, beach and shoreline 300 m to each side. Ideally located for use as a base for (half-)day-trips to numerous inland and coastal attractions in the Northern part of the West Norway Fjord District (Trollveggen, Trollstigen, Romsdalseggen, Gudbrandsjuvet, Eagle Road, Geiranger, Atlantic Road, Ona, Grip, Molde, Aalesund, Aandalsnes - -). Or you may prefer local kayaking, fjord fishing, horseback riding, mountain hiking, - or just to relax in peace and quiet. Wonderful local forest and mountain hikes. One hundred meters to the private shore, with stone landing stage/fishing pier very suitable for rod fishing. Boats (rowing, gasoline or electric outboard engine).

House details: The first floor contains large main room with splendid view of fjord and mountains, with corner kitchen (fridge, electric stove, micro, dishwasher etc), firewood oven with glass doors, large bathroom with shower and bathtub, nice bedroom with twin bed, children's bedroom with good bunk beds (2 beds; up to adult size), cozy loft with 4 beds (preferably children/teenagers). Ground floor contains bedroom with twin bed, and a large 'allroom' used as bedroom during the summer season, with kitchen facilities (equipment as on 1st floor) and open fireplace and stone oven. Bathroom with jacuzzi shared with the other ground floor bedroom (use of jacuzzi also with main floor bedroom). Washing room (steel sink, washing machine and tumble dryer). Natural stone tile floors with waterborne heating in all rooms both levels (separate temperature regulation for the individual rooms). Fiberoptic high-speed broadband internetaccess, TV with many international channels.

Aalesund Vigra airport 70 km, Molde airport 15+5 km with 35 min ferry ride, a number of international flights (Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Baltic) and several daily flights to Bergen and Oslo. About 8 hr drive from Oslo and Bergen.

Strictly non-smoking indoors, no pets. Self-catering.

Getting around

Fjord fishing and other fjord activities and some mountain walks from the site. More mountain walks 10-15 min and up to 45 min by car. Bikes also available. Most regional attractions (Aandalsnes, Trollstigen, Geiranger, Atlantic Road, etc) 45 min - 2 hrs by car. For some coastal attractions like the Atlantic Road, ferry Vestnes-Molde (Fjord1 company) - crossing takes 35 min, ferries run about every half an hour daytime weekdays. Local car rental on day-to-day basis available. Frequent buses from nearby Vestnes (10 min) to Aalesund, Molde/Kristiansund and Aandalsnes, some buses Tresfjord-Vestnes.

Interaction with guest

The owners (retired doctor and nutritionist wife) live in the old farmhouse, and are available for advice and practical help throughout the stay. Upon guests' arrival, we introduce the guests to the property, the house and the boathouse, and give practical information. Also, we use to sit down with the guests for half an hour or so, to answer questions and give information and suggestions about local attractions and activities according to the guests' interests. Often we prepare simple route descriptions for mountain walks or day-trips by car. We also help the unexperienced get started with using fishing gear, boats, kayaks etc. All this depending upon whether the guests want this interaction, of course.
