Description

The spacious cottage Tvera can accommodate up to 12 guests, but 8 is ideal. It is very close to the ferry harbor Brjanslaekur, where the car & passenger ferry from the town Stykkisholmur arrives, with a stop at the cult island Flatey. It is also close to the road junction for the main town of the Westfjords, Isafjordur, featuring the best fish restaurant in Iceland, and there is only 25 minutes panoramic drive to Dynjandi, the most beautiful and impressive waterfall of the Westfjords (100 m). In the West of Tvera there are some of the best possibilities viewing the Puffin at the cliffs of Latrabjarg and on the way you have the breathtaking view of red sand beach Raudasandur. A little further north is the abandoned valley Selardalur with a naiv-art exhibition.

Still the biggest value of this site is the peacefulness in the pristine environment of the widely untouched region, the Westfjords of Iceland, like you see by the story of one of the first discoverer of Iceland, the Norseman Hrafna-Floki (year 865 AD). He had the whole country for himself but chose to settle two km from where the cottage Tvera stands, at the coast with a marvelous view over the bay and the islands. If booked for more than 6 guests, a surcharge of € 30,- pr person pr night will apply.

We also run the quality cottages "Brekka" by the bay Hvalfjord just north of Reykjavik (HL 1717225), "Hamragil" up North, by the town Akureyri (HL 1747494) and "Holt" south of the great sights Geysir and Gullfoss (HL 7490738).

“Great Stay, Great Location, Great House”

We recently stayed at Tvera with another couple to explore the Westfjords of Iceland. The accommodations were excellent. The house was impeccable and well provisioned. The location and view of the bay, was magical. Close to all the sights of the Westfjords and the ferry that shortened the drive. The house has a full modern kitchen, beautiful living room, WiFi, nice bathrooms, comfortable beds, and easy to move into. The instructions provided made the experience even better. I would highly recommend a stay at Tvera. I only hope I have the opportunity to visit again.

“Cozy cabin with fantastic views”

We spent three nights at the house, and loved every moment. We were well prepared for the isolation, and thankfully took the advice we were given to bring plenty of food with us. What surprised us was how well equipped and cozy the house was; we had been expecting something much more basic. We enjoyed making day trips around the area, and everyone (even the teenagers) enjoyed the sense of escape and immersion into an entirely new natural environment. The views over the water are lovely.
