Description from owner

Description

This four star detached stone cottage provides a rural retreat as a base for relaxing and enjoying outdoor activities.

Tastefully and thoughtfully converted it is perfectly suited to two people. The accommodation comprises one bedroom, an open plan lounge-diner, and small kitchen. There is a shower room and tiled lobby for muddy boots! The patio has outdoor furniture to relax and capture the last rays of the setting sun.

Electric heating provides a comfortable environment

We are located between two villages - each around a mile away - with traditional pubs serving ales and good food.

Birdwatchers can add to the growing list of sightings around the cottage, feed the badgers at night and hope to see the deer passing through. With its own patio and garden area you can sit under the oak tree, admire the bluebells and watch the wildlife. With access to a host of outdoor activities set in the lanscape of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean there are cycle trails, established walking routes and a huge network of local bridlepaths, access to river sports on the River Wye such as kyaking and fishing

Oakgrove is within easy reach of Symonds Yat - an internationally famous viewpoint, Tintern Abbey, and Chepstow Castle to name but a few. Further afield but within an hours drive are Cardiff, Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Ross and Hereford.

This is a lovely cottage in a very peaceful setting a mile up the hill from Brockweir. The owners are very friendly and helpful .we had nightly visiting badgers who ate peanuts then went, followed by the owl hooting gently, and during the day lots of birdsong. The Wye valley is beautiful with lots of enjoyable walks.Tintern abbey is nearby, lots of local footpaths including Offa's Dyke and the Wye valley trail. We also went over into the Forest of Dean, the other side of the hill and more walking and interesting places to see.We can recommend this cottage for a stay in this gorgeous area.
