“Crytsal Towers 1608”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2015

We were very happy with the unit - it was clean, spacious, all amenities available, reasonably priced, amazing balcony views of the strip and the gulf, and conveniently/centrally located in Gulf Shores. However, we were not pleased with the elevator situation. On our stay, the fire department was called 6 times to rescue guests from the elevators. The elevators were totally and completely HOT and DANGEROUS dropping 2 or 3 floors at random (I found this out talking to another guest after we checked out that was stuck for 45 minutes in an elevator where the temp was 110 degrees and dropped between floors) We also waited on elevators too long for check in and check out with limited access to carts and means to transport luggage 16 stories. Although I am pleased with the unit and every other detail of our stay, the elevators were enough to make me NOT want to book at Crystal Towers again. It should have been a red flag when the check in packet stated there would be no refunds or discounts due to the elevators during our booking. If this detail was corrected, and more elevators were added, this would be an excellent spot and I would have high recommendations for the property. Unfortunately, I do not see the property adding additional elevators for the 20 story building.

“Excellent accommodation”

This was our second trip to gulf shores and the people at Youngs sun coast are very friendly and helpful. The condo we stayed in was Crystal Towers. It was very clean in a great location. My family and I will definitely stay there again

“Condo about average but rental company a little less than averag”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2013

The condo itself is in a great location. It has a nice view of the ocean. The covered walkway would have been perfect if it was working properly. The condo had all the necessary amenities but the furniture is a bit outdated. I was however very disappointed in Guest Relations at Young's Suncoast so I will not recommend them. I contacted them regarding an elevator button that was out of service at the pool area. It was to the elevator that my elderly parents used to access the pool and beach. The button stopped working on late Wed which made it impossible for my parents to get back upstairs to their room via the covered breezeway from the pool/ocean. The stairs stay wet and sandy from guests so my elderly parents could not use them. On late Wed, my parents had to get four guests from the condo to help them back upstairs to the room because when they returned from the beach, the elevator didn't work. After two days without use of the elevator going up, I called both Crystal Towers & Young's Suncoast. I spoke with Scott at Young's about the inconvenience of not having use of the elevator but we was very short with me and suggested that my parents cross the very busy road to get across the street to the pool/beach. I explained to him how my father had just completed radiation for cancer and could not move quickly. He told me that Crystal Towers ordered the part from out of state and that it would be next Monday before they would have the part and that they did not consider the broken elevator to be an "Emergency". If you are reading this, I'm sure you are aware of exactly how busy Beach Blvd is and will agree that his suggestion for them to cross the road was not safe at all. I asked him to please see if they could find a button locally so my parents could please see get over to the beach before we left, but he said they were not able to honor our request. We paid a lot of $$ to have handicap accessible walkways to the pool that were able to use for only one day.

Response from the manager While we strive for everything to be in perfect working order unfortunately, the elevators do go down. Especially during the busy season. Scott was merely making suggestions as to other alternatives to access the beach and beach front pool since that particular elevator was out. A part had to be ordered and there was nothing the building management could do about that. Scott asked you if it was possible for them to cross the road on the lobby level since they have handicap ramps there. You expressed that you could not do that and we had no other options to offer. We are sorry about the issues and hate that your vacation wasn't perfect but we did the best we could in the situation.

“not what I expected”

The living room was very small. Unless you were sitting down , you would not of been able to fit more then 3 people standing up in living room. The lazy river was a joke. My fault but when they said lazy river. It was over in 30 sec. Very small attached to the pool. This condo was way overpriced.

loved the pool, and hot tub...we have stayed at crystal towers before, and it will probably be our condo of choice from now on...the week we went, the oil was not a problem

“Awesome beach view!”

We always love staying at Crystal Tower. It is our home for a week every July. Our kids love the beach but the huge pool is nice too! Thank you!!

“Pretty beachy decor”

Reviewed 27 Oct 2008

We called this unit home for four months from December 2007 thru March 2008. This was our fifth year as snowbirds, and this unit was immaculate when we arrived which was a first for us. I thought the table was a little large for the space, but that is only my personal preference and in no way should detract my recommendation. It was a very pleasant unit with accommodating owners. We are looking forward to returning to the Crystal Tower again this winter.
