“Kona Reef A15”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2013

Overall a great stay at Kona Reef. Perfect location, great view. The sofa/futon is not the best choice for the living room but I guess it is necessary for extra guests. We were also disappointed with the crt tv. Didnt know anyone still had them. ;)

“Living Room furnished with bed”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2013

This was a great unit, and the ocean connection could not be beat. The only odd thing was that there was no couch in the living room. There was a king sized bed with arms and lots of cushions. It worked OK when you settled in for your evening lounge, but was a little awkward to get in and out of.

“Great location (could use some upgrade)”

Reviewed 15 Feb 2013

Great location not so good management. I had to argue for guess what: toilet paper (1 roll for 5 days...)!!!

Response from the manager On the day the guest called, 3 rolls of toiet paper and clothers soap was delivered within a 1/2 hour of his call. The condos start with a starter kit of paper products and 2 rolls of TP which was there when they arrived.

“A-15 review”

Reviewed 25 Jan 2013

We have stayed at Kona Reef many times. A-15 is nice but the futon takes up too much room and there was no alarm clock in the bedroom. The shower was difficult to turn on and restriction of towels was a little annoying. The lanai needs looked at as water leaks from the NW corner where a structural beam is. This beam is rusting quite a bit and really should be looked at soon. Also, the flapper in the toilet occasionally hung up and the toilet ran and ran.

“Kona in October”

We love Kona this time of year. Kona Coffee fest is so fun. We have stayed at the Kona Reef before. We lliked this condo the best so far!

“Great view from the beach side units!”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2012

Right on the beach. You could watch surfers, cruise ships, sea turtles and paddle boarders from the deck. The layout of the complex is a little confusing at first but once you learn your way around it is OK. Be sure to get one of the units that faces the ocean. Also, notice that the directions to the property state POINT 5 MILES FROM THE 3 WAY STOP, not 5 miles.

“Great location.”

Watched dolphins and surfers off the deck. Close to everything. Nice furnishings.

“Kona Reef”

Reviewed 21 Sep 2012

Overall the unit was clean. However the silverware all needed washing as it appeared that they had been rinsed and not washed. Dried food residue very noticeable. The teapot showed rust inside and out. The futon couch was not comfortable to sit on. The lanai furniture was great. We saw turtles almost everytime we looked out as well as dolphins. The complex was very quiet. The location is only a short walking distance from the shops and restraunts along Alii drive.

“40th wedding anniversary”

Reviewed 18 May 2012

We have stayed at the Kona Reef four times. A15 wins 4th place. The bathroom needs to be gutted. Everything old. Bathroom fan doesn't take moisture out of the room - only adds heat. By the time you get your make up on, it is melting off your face. No place to put anything on the vanity. Bedroom light switch does not work. You have to walk into a dark room to turn on a bedside lamp. Bed spread is stained. Need to use a flashlight to see washer/dryer controls at night. Iron is corroded. Pantry door are missing. Stove and rusty refrigerator are old. The unit was advertised as having an ice maker. to me this means a machine not 2 ice cube trays. The supplies needs to be upgraded -paper towel, toilet paper (think tissue paper), mini bar of soap. They are of the lowest quality. This is not Motel 8. If you want to tidy up, there is a broom and a half of box from chocolates. The rental photo of the livingroom shows a bed. Be warned!!!! This is not a photo showing the day bed folds out. This full size bed is the sofa which is uncomfortable, backbreaking, stained and sticky. ****use a pool towel to lay on to feel cleaner. To turn on the air conditioner, you need to stand on a chair. The wall switch is broke. When you rent a condo, you want to feel like it is a home. This unit feels like a motel. Eight different signs telling you what to do. A15 is not worth the rental price.

“Priced too high”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2012

Unit should be under 200/night after taxes and fees. Condition and amenities do not match asking prices.
