“Very nice place to stay.”
I really liked this place! I loved that it was on old Victorian home. Huge living room! Huge kitchen! Everything was clean. I thought the bed was comfortable. Even though there isn't central heating I was nice and toasty with the heaters that were provided. (I moved the space heater from the bedroom into the bathroom about 20 before I showered so it would be warm). I would highly recommend this place. The only reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 was because I was not aware that I had to pick the key up from another location. Nor was I aware that I was going to have to drop it off at this location. I had an early flight and no car so I had to pay my taxi extra and leave extra early. I really think that should have been mentioned. One last thing, an ironing board would be nice.
“Great location, but needs some touch up”
Pros: Great location, park nearby, parking garage a few blocks away (Japantown Center, in 2013 for around 20$/24h), dining, shopping and public transport all nearby. Full kitchen (dishes, however, were not all clean). WiFi and cable worked ok. Air mattress with electrical air pump supplied - not very comfy but ok. So you really get the feel to live in a SF victorian. Cons: Bad communication, no answer to 3 messages on airbnb and 2 by email, only the 6th mail was answered. After arrival communication went well and we got a 2nd set of keys without problems (only one set is supplied). We got a different apartment than the one we had booked (Upper instead of Lower) without prior notice. This was OK since the apartments are similar but a short notice before arrival would have been appreciated. We were not sure if the apartment had been cleaned - found old hair in the bed, were not sure if some towels had been used before, nothing smelled clean and fresh. Apartment needs some touch up: many stains on curtains, walls and furniture. Sticky spots on kitchen table/floor that could easily be cleaned, poorly tape-fixed TV remote (nasty to touch), some loose electrical outlets, some light switches making strange noises. Not all light bulbs worked. Curtains difficult to open, some roller blinds broken or hard to handle. Bring earplugs (some shaky windows) and blindfolds (no full blackout possible) if you want to sleep well. Bigger/newer bed would be great. No info on how to use washer/dryer (both outdated) in rather scary basement used mainly as repository. Worn out fridge. If you don't care about such things you'll be fine. It's a great location and all in all an OK experience. We would just have wished the apartment had been as perfect as on the images provided. It seems to us that a little more enthusiasm and attention to details would greatly improve guest experience. It would take only little maintenance as well as a thorough clean and the place would be just amazing.
“A Dreamy February”
The location was 10/10. It is a block from a great grocery, 1.5 blocks from a nice park where we walked out dog, and 2 blocks from Fillmore Street. The flat was plenty spacious but the furnishings probably all came from a yard sale. There is no central heat. The bed could have been a newer and larger. We tended to roll to the middle. The television and cable choices stunk. All in all, it was a wonderful month. We hope to come back as permanent residents.
“What a great place to stay”
Apartment quality above expectations. Clean and spacious. Jan was nice and, above all, easy to contact with any issue. Only points for improvement are (1) the entrance door to the building--this is not very secure as the lock did not work. Being in SF for the first time, I definitely slept with one eye open. Though, in fairness, I consistently forgot to mention this to Buena Vista so perhaps it was something they would have addressed. (2) I could not get the wifi working--the password seemed to be incorrect.
“Larger than expected/smooth rent process”
I have to say that the apartment was great. Large kitchen, very large living room and everything was impeccably clean. I really enjoyed my stay here. The process to rent it was super friendly and smooth. Great choice!
“Superb location & very spacious”
Best feature of this rental for us was the location in San Francisco, especially since we did not bring a car. It's close to handy stores, restaurants, services and several frequent buses. Even taxis are easy to hail. The neighborhood (Pacific Heights) is safe and friendly. The unit is very spacious for the two of us. The kitchen is well equipped. The TV, channel selection and internet connection are very good. The bed is comfortable, and there is also a full-length couch. Just watch out for sharp corners of the glass coffee table. Though we have not stayed in this unit before, we have used this agency in past, generally with excellent results. We're sure we'll be back, and we will request this unit again.
“Great location but...”
We actually stayed at Pierce Place Lower Unit. Amazing location. We have a dog and the place was steps from Alta Plaza Park. Located 2 blocks from Fillmore Street. All in all the apartment was fine- it did the job. We were there for 6 weeks. However, we were told we would have a bathtub, which we did not. The upper unit had a bathtub. Also, it was missing basic necessities such as a hanging rod in the closet, a toaster, and a towel rack. We took it upon ourselves to remedy the first two and were told the towel rack would be taken care of, which it never was. The vacuum didn't work and so we called for a replacement, but it never arrived. We had to call again. Also, a residential parking permit was supposed to be included in the rental, but that also was never taken care of. I kept calling and Jan kept saying it "should" be on its way, but it never was. Finally I took it upon myself to get it and found that he hadn't even followed the proper protocol for it to ever arrive. Also, it was unclear how to work the TV (I was not familiar with digital cable) as well as location of the washer/dryer (which was in a scary basement). All in all, fabulous location and nice enough apartment, but not worth the money.
Response from the manager Since this review was submitted the hanging rod was installed and the toaster was replaced. Additionally, the guest was always advised that only they can seek the permit. We provided them the proper paperwork to receive the permit. The basement had been reconfigured with superior lighting.
“Great location, clean, roomy, basic”
Since I live about 90 minutes from SF most of my trips there are day trips. My wife and I decided to spend our vacation in The City. We are glad we found this place. We like to walk in neighborhoods. When we arrived, I thought we were in a residential area far from any neighborhoods because of the way we came in. I was way wrong! Fremont Street is a great place to hang out, and it's only a couple of small blocks away. The location is close to all kinds of things, including mass transit, and it's a very nice neighborhood. The apartment itself is nice but nothing special. It's a long steep flight up. Everything was clean and comfy, with a nice kitchen and a huge front room. The bedroom and bath are quite small - we kept our luggage in the front room. Parking was a huge issue for us. We spent most of our trip moving or worrying about the car, since most of the parking in the area had a time limit. I would have chosen a different apartment if it had had a parking spot included. Next time we'll either find a place with parking or park in a suburb and take the train in. If you can handle the parking situation, I would recommend this place.
“Great Place to Stay in SF/Fillmore”
Three of us stayed here in September 2008. The location was perfect, and the property was very nice. Our only complaint was that the sleeper bed in the living room was not very comfortable, but we were able to make due with the air mattress. The kitchen was reasonably stocked with dishes, glassware, cookware, etc. Overall, very nice place to stay at a very reasonable price, with great access to Fillmore Street. (I would have rated the experience as "highly recommended" if it hadn't been for the less-than-satisfactory sleeper sofa.)
