“All the comforts of home with the addition of Sunshine!”
This was our third time renting a condo at the Elements. We booked through Bric Vacation rentals two of those three times. Our experiences with the Bric staff, including Dameon and Mayoli, were exactly what we wanted and needed. They helped us with pre grocery shopping allowing for us to walk into the unit and have all of the items we wanted. They also helped us book excursions that were reliably run. The condo was well cared for and nicely appointed. The private beach allows for a predictably peaceful stay. There is maid service 6 days a week! The Elements and Bric keep us coming back every year!
“No wireless internet”
The room was clean and comfortable but there was no wireless internet at all in the room so we ended up spending a good portion of the trip in the business center.
“Relaxing in Playa”
The complex was beautiful. The condo was clean. We had a bit of a misunderstanding with Damien on food we wanted in the condo, but other than that no problems. The unit was in a great location. All the condos do have a view of a small rundown structure that was on the beach where the fishermen hang out though. That was not an issue really although it would have been a nicer view without it. We went with our adult daughters who just wanted to chill out with us. It is not a complex in the heart of Playa however it was a short cab ride or a 10-15 min walk. It worked out well for us because we didn't want to hear the nightclubs. Damien recommended many nice places to eat as well as some fun local casual places. We were in the penthouse and used the hot tub twice which was great, but we would probably save the extra money next time and stay in a unit a floor down. The massages at the complex were amazing and for an hour massage they went nearly 1 1/2. We went on an Edventure tour which was the best. I would not recommend the horseback riding that was recommended though. It was expensive and not great.
“comfortable, but the smell from the beach was awful.”
The pool area is not really functional, perhaps a volleyball net in the pool would generate more activity. Given that the smell at the beach was often unbearable the pool should be more inviting. I can honestly say that I arrived daily in a taxi, laden with groceries and the attendants at the front desk did absolutely nothing to help. I was utterly confused as to the actual purpose of their being there. The unit itself was comfortable the design that negates the opening of a bedroom window for fresh air and cross breezes was weird. The maid, Judith was excellent, and Damian the concierge was very efficient and helpful.
Everything worked out perfectly, from booking (stephanie), to checking in ( Damian ), to cheking out, The PH 23 is just breathtaking, very spacious, the views are magnificent, everything was in perfect conditions and working e.g a/c, safety box, jaccuzzi etc. Damian was very helpfull, always available, and I mean always, The private beach is amazing, never crowded, it just feels very secluded, yet only literally a seven to ten minute walk to Mamita's beach club, ( I dit it jogging everyday in 5 minutes back and forth ). Restaurants in playa are one of a kind, If you like Italian food, Argentinean's restaurants, Mayan, French, I tell you what, you're in the right place, it's all about homemade food, (waiters will never tell you "be careful hot plate", they do not use microwaves). Go to the Blue Parrot at least one night to see the fire show, and if a littlle overweight, make sure you go on a diet before getting there, Everybody is in great shape. The atmosphere is just great in playa. The ocean is amazing, water temp is 85 degrees +. You will always feel safe, we would walk back to the elements after midnight, and would be greeted "hola" by whoever we walked by. For breakfast don't forget to go to Che celine, french bakery 5 minutes away from the elements. The only downside of playa, if you like drinking, prepare your own drinks at the elements, there is blender, ice, all you need to make tropical drinks, just go to any supermarket or xoxo=seven eleven to get the liquor, because at the bars, they just don't put any alcohol in the drinks at all unless you like beers that come sealed off. Overall best vacation ever, and I've been traveling two to three times a year for the past 7 years. See you in april Damian, Stephanie and everyone at the elements, thank you guys for all that you do, sincerely, Sebastian, Valeria, John and Leah...
“Nice condo but... what a stink on the beach!!”
The condo is very nice. Our penthouse had a spectacular view of the beach and sea and Cozumel island. The condo was very comfortable. The only little problem was the jacuzzi on the roof that had dirty water. The real big problem was the beach: there was a very annoying stink of rotten or sulphur, I don't know, but really unpleasant, also in the water. The smell also arrived to the condo if there was wind in our direction. So we went to the private beach of the condo pnly once. The we learnt that it was enough to move a 200 yards north or south and there was no more bad smell. It's a pity because without this problem I would go back, but with this problem I will certainly not and would not recommend it to anyone. Actually it would be fair if the management would reimbourse us a part of the money we paid because we didn't travel all the way from Italy to end up in what smelled like a sewer.
The Penthouse 23 was wonderful. Damian the concierge was wonderful. The free local cell phone was a nice touch. The Monkey Cave for breakfast is a must. Loved Origenes also. They were both within walking distance.
“High quality accommodation at the quieter end of Playa”
We stayed in a top floor penthouse apartment (#23). We had a great vacation and if we return to Playa we will definitely go back to the Elements. We started our vacation with 5 days of absolutely torrential rain. Thankfully the Elements provide a DVD player and a good DVD library! Playa has a great vibe and is very safe. 5th avenue is a great place to walk at all times of day and there are lots of taxis available. Few places with baby changing facilities on 5th - Starbucks at 28th st was the best. The north of Playa where the Elements is located is a development area at the moment - but it doesn’t detract at all from your vacation as the Elements and its neighbors (Casa del Mar & Gran Coco Bay) are complete. We needed a doctor while we were there. Thankfully there was a card on our fridge with a local doctor’s details on it. Dr Bernardo Diaz was great and spoke excellent English. He offered to come to the Elements but we went to his office. Good aspects of the Elements: -Great apartment - sea view, 2 good size bedrooms and bathrooms, beautifully furnished and fitted (two walk in showers - no bath) -Lovely private beach -Great location - easy walking distance to end of 5th ave -Washer, dryer & dishwasher -Separate Air conditioning systems in each bedroom & main room -Children safe balconies - with gas BBQs -Beautiful upper deck with clean hot tub, shower and outside kitchen -Very good quality infant crib -Superb pool- great for kids & well maintained common areas -Provided a local mobile phone and charger with 15mins talk time -Wonderful babysitter (Veronica) recommended by Elements -Off street parking close to apartment -No restaurant - but plenty of good ones nearby Not so good: -Only one English speaking member of staff on the premises (Damian) -Not a huge number of English TV channels (most are blocked) -Maid service - you have to ask for towels and sheets to be washed - not automatic
“good accomodations, great location, friendly service”
The Elements was a great fit for my family. The unit was like new. Clean, nicely furnished and spacious. Unlike a hotel, services where minimal, but that was OK since the unit was equipped with laundry & dishwasher. The host was very helpful in making recommendations and arranging activities. We liked easy beach access and being away, yet a short walk from the center of Playa Del Carmen. If you want a beautiful unit with great views and access to the beach and town center, the Elements is a great place.
“Wonderful stay. Wonderful place”
We came right before Christmas, December 12-19 and had a terrific time. We have two kids 6 & 7. The pool was great, we were there every morning. Our condo seemed brand new. Everything was "as advertised". We even had them buy some groceries prior to arrival. Damion was our conceierge. He was great. He arranged a visit to Tulum and Xel-Ha as a private tour. We did not have to take a shuttle bus or go with other tourists. He also arranged for us to go swimming with the Dolphins. Very fun. There is a beach club across the street called Canibal Royal. A great way to spend the day at the beach, eat good food and let the kids play in the water. We are definitely returning, soon!
