“21rst Century Exploration”
I traveled to Casa Flamingo with fishing friends from Michigan and New Zealand. We visited the butterfly sanctuary in the national park outside of San Jose between flights. Caught the largest sailfish of my life, cooked up the days catch, watched whales, howler monkeys and a spectrum of birds from the infinity pool. It is just a storybook, fantastic facility. We feasted on whole roasted red snapper at the nearby "Happy Snapper" in Flamingo. Having a vehicle really enlarged our regional exploration.
“Such an amazing experience!”
My wife and I flew in to San Jose and drove up to Flamingo. The home is spectacular and modern, yet very comfortable. Will easily accommodate 6. Loved coming home at the end of every day and jumping in to the infinity edge pool. Howler monkeys in the trees come to visit in the morning. Beach, bars and restaurants within walking distance. Deep sea fishing, zip-line canopy tours and a monkey jungle all within an hour by vehicle.
“Great and peaceful”
What a wonderful view and the house was great. Close to dining out spots and the beach. We stayed for two week. the caretaker on the property was very helpful. The cleaning service was supposed to come once week and did not see them the second. I would also recommend the owner put rubber mats down in the shower as is very slippery.
“Amazingly beautiful and relaxing, simply paradise!”
My husband, I and our 14 year old spent our vacation here. We have never been to Costa Rica previously. A friend referred us to Special Places of Guanacaste and we will forever be very grateful he did! Sharon took wonderful care of us, making sure we had everything we needed or wanted. She was always there to assist us with any questions or help we needed. What a wonderful person, she went out of her way to make us comfortable in our travel adventure. She can set up any tours you may want to take. The house is just gorgeous and extremely clean. Edgar the caretaker was always available for assistance and gave outstanding service. It was very comforting knowing he was there when you needed him, but gave us plenty of privacy at the same time. What a nice trustworthy man. They are lucky to have him. We felt completely safe during our stay. The howler monkeys outside the door were just amazing to watch daily. We sat in awe of them every morning. The mealy parrots would make their rounds as well. Hummingbirds were everywhere. This is a very private, relaxing, luxury home. The grounds were kept immaculate and the pool is such a gem to have for private swims. From this house is what I would call a million dollar view. You can hear the waves crashing all day and at night from the bedroom! Sunsets are perfectly viewed with out any obstructions. Casa Flamingo is a perfect retreat for whatever you desire. We will be making this our number one vacation spot for the rest of our lives! We can not wait to return!! A huge thank you to Sharon, Edgar and the owner of this home for sharing it with us! See you again soon!
“Another great Costa Rica experience”
In February, our two couples visited Costa Rica for the 4th time. Previously we went to the Quepos area but this time we visited Flamingo Beach and stayed at Casa Flamingo. While a bit pricey, Casa Flamingo was everything the Vrbo site said. It was a beautiful, well appointed home with a lovely pool, sited on the mountain overlooking Flamingo Beach. Once we got use to the initially scary drive up to the home, we found going in and out to be fine. We spent 10 days roaming Flamingo Beach and the surrounding areas, enjoying the sites, activities, beaches, and of course the people. While at Casa Flamingo we found we had a resident caretaker. While a bit put off at first by the unexpected presence, Edgar was very good about being out of site except when he sensed we were having problems with things like the grill, or walking through a screen which he fixed quickly. I can only say our stay was very enjoyable and I would recommend both the area and the house to anyone thinking of visiting Costa Rica. As an aside, we picked this area because it was in close proximity to the Liberia airport (1 hour or less). When we stayed in Quepos we flew into San Jose and drove the 5 1/2 hours each way so being only 1 hour away was great though the Quepos area is wonderful in it's own right.
“DID NOT STAY”
“Beautiful home - spectacular setting”
We came to Costa Rica to find an alternative to Maui - which is a great place, and easy to get to - but Maui is suffering from being loved too much (and is just too expensive). We'd never been to CR before, and didn't want to "travel & tour".... we wanted to lounge, relax, and chill. This house fit the bill perfectly - superb views, lovely layout, well maintained, TOTALLY private (which was extremely important to us). We were, at first, a bit put off by the fact the property has a live-in caretaker (thus negating our desire for complete privacy - we SHOULD have been told this), but the caretaker and his wife were very unobtrusive, and as it turned out, important to have around (one of us got stung by a scorpion and we had no idea how serious this situation was - the caretaker, in his broken english, assured us it was not serious unless we had allergies to bee stings). Bugs (mostly ants) entering the house is a problem in the first floor bedroom suite (including said scorpion), but the ants were unaggressive and never bit: I'd rather have ants than pesticides anyday, especially in sleeping quarters. Top floor suites did not have this problem. The only other minor quibble - the kitchen is a designer kitchen - and should be wonderful to cook in - but it's equipped with only the bare minimum of cooking equipment, making gourmet cooking difficult (I brought my Wustoff knives expecting to cook up a storm, but the limits in the kitchen, along with the lack of a nearby well stocked grocery store made me change plans). That said, DO make sure you try the fresh pineapple in CR - far better than even freshest, ripest Maui pineapples. We will DEFINITELY be back - the house is great, and the management was excellent. A terrific value (3 bedroom luxury home for the same price as a 1 bedroom basic condo in Maui). And Costa Rica (and the wonderful Tico's) is very alluring.
