“Beautiful scenery, but hot.”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2013

We found ourselves unexpectedly in the area for the week after Labor Day. Response to booking was prompt, but I was concerned that there was no a/C. Spoke to the booking agent, and was reassured that a/c was unnecessary, as it was always 10-15 degrees cooler where the cabin was located due to altitude. This was our first time in the area, so we did not know what to expect as far as climate. It's quite the little drive up the mountain, but the scenery is beautiful. The neighborhood where the cabin was, was quiet and secluded. There was ample space between each property. The view from the balcony was very nice. The cabin itself was decently appointed, all cooking items necessary were present. Has only a shower stall, so be aware if you have little ones that there's no bath available. Tv is mounted too high for viewing comfort...small gripe, but worth mentioning bc it will leave a crick in your neck. There are 2 full beds and one queen, which could all benefit from a few mattress toppers. Most definitely not the euro top or memory foam sets we have at home. The main discomfort was that it was uncomfortably hot in the cabin. We kept the windows open the whole time, and the two small fans that were provided going as well. During the day, it was easily 10-15 degrees hotter in the cabin than outside, and high temps were in the 80's. We kept the shades closed on the bottom windows. It took well into the night to cool off, and we even went and bought a box fan. It made for a hot night sleep tossing and turning. Cooking on the stove made it even hotter in the cabin. This is definitely a cabin to enjoy once there's snow on the ground (there's a fireplace). Just a side note unrelated to the cabin, if you visit the area, do so before Labor Day as almost every attraction closes "for the season" the day after Labor Day :-( we were able to still go to mt Rushmore, 1880 train, and bear country USa, but most everything else was closed.

“Good weekend!”

It worked great for us (two couples). I would love to see more mirrors. It was hard to get ready with just the one mirror in the bathroom. It was really hard to find at night, even with a GPS. Leaving a light on would have been helpful. Beautiful views that can't be beat. I would stay there again-

The cabin was very comfortable. Check-in and out were a breeze. We were thankful that we had satellite TV, because our hockey team was in the NHL playoffs! But, the best part was the peace we found.

“Fantastic!”

The cabin was neatly furnished with all items one would need at a home-away-from-home. The location is just perfect for a idyllic family retreat.

“Great place to stay. Made the trip worth it!”

Had everything we needed. Hot Tub was nice. Easy use.
