“Great Location, but likely to need chains/4WD if it snows”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2011

This cabin is awesome - no doubt about it. There is plenty of room, the jacuzzi is great, it's warm and cozy, but you don't feel crowded, and there's a little hill for sledding on the side of the house (a hill big enough for teenagers to enjoy). We stayed here with 4 adults, 2 teenage girls, and 2 boys ages 9 and 11. The bedrooms were set up perfectly and the kitchen was amply stocked aside from a cooking pot/pan here and there. The only drawback is that it's in the middle of a hill so you will need chains/4WD to get to it if's happened to snow before or while you're there.

“A Decent Stay - Do Not Stay just for Jacuzzi”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2011

All in all, this is a decent Cabin to stay at if you are just looking to get in sleep watch some TV and get out. Sleeps 8 perfectly fine with 2 rooms at the bottom floor. I gave overall 3 stars because this place was mediocre. The Jacuzzi was the main reason we rented this place. I've read on other comments that the Jacuzzi stopped working after 5 minutes, so I've called twice to make sure with bigbearvacation rentals that we want the Jacuzzi working. For the first night it worked, but guess what, by the second night the electrical breakers just kept jumping. We called technician in, and he just basically flip it down and up, but the problem persisted. I'm really not too happy with BigBearVacation Rentals. The floors felt really dirty, there were definitely dog fur balls where this cabin specifically stated that no pets were allowed. Seemed like there wasn't maid service to vacuum and mop the floors before we came.

Response from the manager Thank you for responding to our survey. We are sorry the spa had issue during your stay. This is something the owner is working on. . We strive to have all of our guests welcomed into a clean house. We have an in house housekeeping staff if there ever is an issue during your stay. We hope you will come to Big Bear again and have a lovely time

“The perfect "cabin experience"”

Reviewed 16 Feb 2011

We actually stayed at this same cabin last Feb and liked it so much we decided to come back. This year the check in process was a little frustrating as I did the online check in and had everything set up for a friend (who was going to be there sooner than me) to check in when he got up there and they didnt have record of me doing the online check in. I even called after I did it to make sure I did it right and still didnt have record of it. But they let him check in and all ended well. The cabin has great character and is perfect if you want that "old school cabin feel" . The tiles on the counter in the downstairs bathroom are very cracked and should be fixed as well as some of the tiles in the shower and the shower upstairs has horrible water pressure but other than that the place is awesome!

Response from the manager Thank you for responding to our survey. We will look into the water pressure. Sometimes it is just the screen on the faucets. We hope you come back again and have good Big Bear fun.

“Very good location...nice cabin...but a few things...”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2011

We stayed New years Eve, so it was even pricier than normal, but there was 7 of us and we all slept very comfortably. Nice sized kitchen.dining room...heater worked great!!! The jacuzzi quit on us after about an hour of use. We called next morning and they weren't able to come until later in the afternoon, but they were very nice and fixed it in a heartbeat!!! When sleeping downstairs, the floors above do creek quite a bit when people are are walking...still, a great place to stay!

“Cozy Cabin was just right”

Reviewed 21 Jan 2010

We stayed in this cabin over President's Day Weekend 2010. There were six of us (3 couples) and this cabin was just the right size. There was plenty of room to huddle around the flat-panel television or gather around the large kitchen table. There was complimentary wireless internet, too. The instruction booklet gives the wrong directions about how to connect to the network; the network password is printed on a label on top of the cable modem next to the bar. It works great. The kitchen is admirably stocked with pots, pans, utensils, and glassware. There's even a wafflemaker under the counter that works great as well. While there were plenty of towels and toilet paper, there was only one paper towel roll and barely any napkins, so you should bring your own. The spa works great although it's probably a little small for 6 people. It fits 4 adults very easily though. The cabin has a nice "cabin" feel with dark woods and a somewhat whimsical decor. I would definitely stay here again.

Response from the manager Thank you for responding to our survey. We have changed the booklet to reflect the new password. We are glad you had a good time in Big Bear.

“Gypsies in the Palace”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2010

First off we had excellent customer service from the Big Bear vacation staff. We enjoyed the cabin, good location. Could not get on internet even though the password was provided. The spa would not stay on longer than 5 minutes, the circuit kept breaking. If you have small children I would reccomend bringing some kind of gate to block off the stairs (they go down to reach the other bedrooms) There was a gate there but, it was in need of repair at the latch. The bathroom upstairs had shower doors that were not sturdy at all, be careful. All in all the house was cozy and the backyard had hills which made it fun for the kids to play in the back yard. I would stay here again. The pros outwieghedd the cons.
