“Cozy and Comfortable”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2012

Check-In was easy, The house was in a great location close to the slopes, the Cabin was cozy and comfortable, big backyard, and we had a wonderful time. This is the perfect size cabin for a family with up to four kids who don't mind sharing a bedroom. The kitchen was the perfect size, the living room was comfortable, and we had a wonderful time during our stay. The only negatives were: the barbeque outside was difficult to use because there was a big hole in the bottom and the pots and pans were a little old (and there wasn't a small pan to use) I recommend you go to the cabin first, see what you would need, then go to the grocery store (which is just a few minutes away). Don't forget to bring toilet paper, paper towel roll, coffee and filters, wood for the fireplace, charcoal for the barbeque... pretty much bring everything you think you will need.

Response from the manager It’s excellent to see you had such a wonderful time at Fun Time Retreat! Thank you for taking your time to give us your feedback, as it allows us to address concerns that our guests might have with a vacation home. We hope you will consider us for future stays here in Big Bear!

“We had a wonderful time.”

Great location. Perfect for hanging out and relaxing with friends. We went there for the Octoberfest and the whole experience was great.

“This was a clean rental.”

This was a nice and clean place, but did need some improvements. The bed in the master was horrible! Also the back screen door was all torn up and dangerous. Overall we had a good time. Nice location.

“Nice for the price”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2011

This is our second stay at this cabin and we plan to rent it again next summer. It's a great cabin for the price. Nice location, roomy, big back yard, big front and back porch, and nice neighbors. The main drawback is the mattress in the master bedroom is uncomfortable. We ended up bunking in the kids room, which had more comfortable beds. The screen door on the back of the porch needs to be replaced. The cabin was clean when we arrived with the exception of the tile floor. It was dusty, and looked like it hadn't been mopped in awhile. Overall, it was well worth the price.

“Charming little cabin!”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2011

I traveled with my family of 5 (3 kids ages 10, 2, and 4 months) and Mother-in-law and cousin. We really enjoyed the quaint, charming little cabin. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to save quite a bit of money by cooking our meals at home. The living area was very open with the family room, kitchen, and dining area all together. this made the cabin feel much larger than it actually was. The double bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom allowed a large number of people to sleep, although it was somewhat tight quarters. The Master bed was rather uncomfortable however... We had great water pressure in the shower and the tankless water heater was a nice touch. Our favorite part was the large, fenced backyard with the horseshoe pit. The kids really enjoyed running around back there and we didn't have to worry about them running into the street, or into neighboring properties. But be sure to bring bug spray, some of the little ones turned into lunch for some biting flies. My only complaint would be that most of the screens on the property were not attached to the windows. This prevented us from keeping the windows open in the early evening to cool off the cabin as we didn't want the bugs to come in attracted to the lights. Since it was quite warm the week we were there (mid 80's) and there is no central air, there were times the cabin got pretty warm and the inability to open windows at night to cool it off was a bummer. Overall, we had a wonderful time. The cabin was easy to find and in a great location next to the small zoo and golf course. I would highly recommend it.

“Cozy cabin with great location”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2011

We had 4 adults and 2 big dogs on this trip. Overall we were very pleased with the cabin. However, it was advertised as fenced in, and the wire on the fence was taken down, laying in the backyard. We had to put it up by hand. Also, the window screens were laying in the backyard, and we had to put them in the windows ourselves to avoid flies getting in. It looked like these items were due to some painting/ new fence construction. We had to run to Stater Bros to get paper towels, TP, surface cleaner and hand soap. Other then that, the place was stocked with dishes, towels, bedding and everything else we needed. The location is great and the neighbors were friendly. All in all it was a great trip, we can't wait to go back.

“Blocked out cabin”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2011

As we drove down our street looking for the address, back and forth, finally deciding this house without a number must be the right place, yes the keys worked. There were paint chips all over the ground and it was clear this was being worked on...all the screens were out of the windows laying on the ground. Inside, we found broken light bulbs under the sink, small sauce pans but nothing to cook pasta, very few amenities (paper towels, pot holders, etc). When we checked out, it turns out this cabin has blocked dates because of the renovation...why didn't they let us know?? Why weren't we switched to another cabin??? It was disappointing.

“Great Getaway!”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2011

My husband and I wanted a weekend getaway and this cozy cabin was perfect for us. We took our dog and she loved the space in the fenced backyard. She did find a hole in the fence and headed over to the next block. (Pet owner's beware). The cabin had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and living space the perfect size. Kitchen could use some more light. Back porch great to sit and relax on and just listen to nature.

“Excellent Customer Service!”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2011

This was our second stay at Funtime Retreat. The cabin is clean and very family and pet friendly. The backyard is fully fenced and managed to keep in our beagle, who loves to try to escape. The cabin is within walking distance of the Moonridge Zoo and you can sometimes hear the animals at night. When we arrived at the cabin I realized that the coffee maker in the cabin was broken. I called the office and they had someone go pick up and deliver a brand new coffee maker in a matter of a couple of hours on a holiday! I live in Las Vegas and am used to getting good service, but I was suprised and impressed at how quickly even the smallest problem was taken care of. Make sure you bring some board games and movies, as there are none in the cabin. The cabin is very basic but comfortable. It lacks a few things in the kitchen, like a large pasta pot, but overall this is a great place to stay.

“Cozy little cottage”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2011

The cabin was very nice and very clean and close to the ski resort. The one problem we had was that the heater broke the last night we were there and everyone was cold.
